got the sachs organic clutch and a lightened steel smf in mine

rated up to 405 lb/ft

its rattly, but the performance is well worth it.

thats what im thinking,

when i had a quote tho , the SMF was same price as a DMF

if im right in thinking that next time the clutch goes you only need to replace the plates etc not the flywheel again

correct me if wrong

I did mine with the Sachs clutch (from JBS - £530ish) and OEM (sachs) DMF (- £235) for about £790 all in with delivery charges etc and release bearing. I have a VW MasterTech mate who fitted it for £50 on top of that. Expensive, yes, but essential!

I tried an "Allards clutch plate" with everything else the original parts (its a Helix plate - paddle design) and that lasted for about 50k miles ( alot of motorway and fair bit of London traffic) but it was a "sintered" plate and was very snatchy and not smooth, but even when worn..... it never slipped. That was about £200 plus fitting. I'll dig out a Helix part number if you want it as I still have the original OEM plate in the Helix box on my garage which I think has all the part number info on it.

spec stage 3+ and billet ally flywheel ,put simply the last clutch you will ever need,oh and while the box is out slap in a peloquin atb diff

The SPEC stuff can be bought via TT shop from memory. I didn't bother with the middle man and rang up Spec themselves in deepest darkest Alabama (said in a real deep South accent :D) and paid for everything on plastic and got it shipped direct (kind of :D)

Im running a Helix setup with SMF on mine. As all the other lads running SMF have said, they really are fantastic. Yes you get a bit of rattle, but its not as bad as some make it out to be.
If you want a good strong reliable clutch, get a SMF.
If your bothered about how people percieve your car (ie. it makes strange noises so its knackered) then get a dmf and replace it regularly.

I know which one I went with and it certainly wasnt the latter.

That kit has the single mass flywheel, and is the going price of the helix kit.

I would say yes, the helix is stronger than the sachs clutch.

There are a few people running hybrid TDi's on the sachs, that are experiencing clutch slip.

I know of a hybrid TDi that is running the helix setup, with 385ft/lbs of torque, has been used properly, no fannying about with easing in power, and is still strong as ever.
