Condensation on windows

This all sounds great, worth a stab at any rate that is for sure. A big thanks to ZBOYD for taking the time to look at this thread and help!

I also agree with the dealer bit, I feel very sorry for these guys who do try and fix things but in some cases they are stabbing in the dark which isn't fair on them or their customers.

Ok, car in for 20k service in morning, so can anyone advice me on a good way to tackle this problem with the dealer? dint want to go in all guns blazing and them to fob me off but dont want to go in seeming like it not a real problem as it is for me and all on here. really want it sorted, been like this for ages, was waiting for the service, 1000k short just to get it in really!! Form sounds good, again thanks to Zboyd, the point of contact is promising!!

Not sure what you do that you haven't already done, but I would sure as heck register the problem with them again so it leaves a paper trail if nothing else.

EDIT: So, car serviced, tried to charge me £145 instead of the £128 quoted, as soon as i said i have the email......oh miracles never cease......'ok will do it for 128'!!!! said for the window to be looked at.........reply was this evening that they tried to look and saw no water on inside of window all day! this was the receptinoist, she was there when they tried apparently! i said it is there and was there this morning, i made sure and then wiped the window to make sure no sign of it so it would be clear to see, the mechanic came out and said it was (quote as close to his words) "Normal to have this on all the cars now, it is the type of them.......water is trapped on the uppper rubber seal and gets onto window". LOAD OF BALLS!!! i said it a bit stupid having the water on the inside of the window and asked how the water was getting from the outer upper seal onto the innner upper seal and getting trapped, to this i got no reply other than this is the way they are!! PS. on a board behind desk was a SEAT set service price board for intervals to 100'000miles i think. have a few unclear spy photos i took!!lol

ZBOYD, thanks for supporting.

Couldn't believe how much water poured out of the passenger door this morning after it rained last night. It just streamed out. I'm going to start measuring how much water comes out I think.

The drivers door seems worse on the inside than the passenger door, one third of it is sodden and it leaves marks on the window which makes it look scruffy in my opinion.

Not a happy pixie. Certainly couldn't leave the car outside in pouring rain over a period of days without the doors being opened.

We'll see what is what I guess.

No not at all good news! the receptionist did let slip that she was bulls**ting her way through!! she was with them while they checking it and it on the outside!!! duh, when i run my hand over it, funny how it on the inside.....changed her tune slightly!!

Great form, good work!! that last comment after made me laugh!!

Does look scruffy, always have clean windows! any sign of misting too easy, or too many bugs etc out comes the rags and cleaner.

Am peeved about it now, not so much before, but the dealer really annoyed me with their explaination!!
 
i have some pics of around the seals of the doors, N/S and O/S doors to compare, N/S (this is drivers, always get this wrong?) has green-ness on the seal, O/S doen't, gromet to cover access to lock/handle removal screw is missing on inner door edge. will try post them at some point, cant get a photo of water on window, too diff to distinguish.

Normal i was told....talk about pulling the p*ss!!!:banned: :confused: :ban: :censored: [:@]

am going to have a poke about on next dry day i can, in between working....who says us students get it easy!!!!!:cry:
 
Window problem cured

I have cured my Fr' wet window problem, and the harsh ride. I've sold it !
Two months from new and the Seat experience has been less than pleasurable, dealers with little or no interest, Seat UK with even less, accessories ordered with car that never turned up and a car that looked good was quick but has features I could not live with. I wish you all good luck with your efforts to rectify these issues.

is the wet windows issue the same as excessive condensation in the morning, my ac clears it but it takes about 5 mins - this cant be normal either surely

I do have the wet windows issue, but have had the condensation thing a few times too. Personally for me, I don't think the two are connected in my car, but that doesn't mean it isn't for others.

I'm not sure where you live, but we're just outside Glasgow and we have seen some very weird conditions regarding the weather of late. My husband's car has been sodden on the inside of the widscreen some mornings if he has been parked on the drive overnight. He has an 07 Ibiza. If I'm unlucky and don't get the garage, then sometimes my Leon is pretty damp first thing in the morning.

I work in the outdoors and one evening a few weeks ago you would have thought it was a nice clear, dry winter night. But when you looked at your jacket, it was really damp. Very odd.
 
No fix to condensation issue on windsreen

I heard from a dealer today, that there is not a fullproof known fix yet for windsreen condensation, only door glass . Looks like no-one at Seat really sure if pollen filter seal will do the trick long term.

My car went into local dealer a few weeks ago and Seat UK advised dealer that `Not a known concern re-windscreen condensation and no information on this type of complaint` I am not amused. Everyone with this problem should pester th:confused:e dealers and Seat UK until a permanent fix is found.

So now I'm waiting to see what they say. It only happens on the drivers door, if the passenger one is OK something is wrong. I think they should at least replace the door components if nothing is heard from Seat.

If anyone else can check their cars and post back results that would be appreciated. I had the car in the rain. Day after, put drivers window down approx 4 inches and back up, the inside of the glass is soaking.

My new 58 plate K1 (3 weeks old) is exactly the same...and the inside of my lights are condensated and dirty too!

Anyone any ideas of getting in there to clean it?:shrug::confused:
 
I had this problem (08 FR) and it was in the dealer who sold it 4 or 5 times without any success, the final time I don't think they even looked at the car and I was told there was nothing wrong don't take it back!! Took it to another dealer, which by the way is getting all future servicing etc and they fixed it straight away. The owner of the original dealership did contact me 3 or 4 weeks after they told me that there was nothing wrong with it to tell me they now know how to fix it!!

The dealer who fixed it told me that there is a problem with the seals on the window and the weather strip which allows water to get through into the inners of the door. There is some foam or something similar which is part of the electric window mechanism which collects the water and that's the problem. They had it for a day 3 months ago and no problems since.
 
Hi Guys,

The constant need to de-mist is something I have noticed. I know the wet weather etc isn’t going to help the matter but after getting in my car and sitting in it for a few mins it begins to steam up, thats if its not done so already.

It may sound daft but I was thinking of trying those moisture absorbing desiccant bags, I would like to think one of these would take the moisture out of the air and therefore leave nothing to condensate on the window? Anyone else thought about trying this?
