I think that this demonstrates the difference between my car and others available, as to need a new clutch and gearbox and respray tells you that car was 'hammered' or maybe 'enjoyed' even for it's mileage.
My car needs no new clutch or gearbox, & has a brand new virgin paint job under the paint shield protection film on front end (put on when new) and hasn't spent more than about 10 nights outdoors ( all during the summer) in its 3 year life. As for comparing my car to anything that Arnold Clark have (a dealer who I have the absolute lowest regard for, from the bitter experience of 2 friends & who seem to dominate the Scottish car Market) is quite absurd.
As for warranty from a dealer, well, we all know what that's worth don't we ?
When I say Mint I Mean MINT!
Hahah yeah waynes car got thrashedddd. Never seen such a peppered front end in my life before. It had more stone chips on it than actual paint. However because the cupra is a hot hatch many people will expect the cars to have seen some abuse, and the fact that its had a new clutch and gearbox would make a potential customer think that, yes it might have been abused, but its just had some new major components, so they dont have to worry about those things failing on them! The devil they know than the devil they dontt.
Maybe that's similar to folks who 'must have a BMW' - i.e. they judge things via pre-conceptions (but in this case, newest=good) even if new is hammered, stone chipped and rusty hubs, etc.
Dealers thrive & encourage this sort of blinkered approach to buying cars.
Use your eyes, folks !
Yeah dealers dont give a toss, when I traded mine in they had never even seen the car before, valued it over the phone, quickly walked round it at the show room, but never even fired it up or anything.
GLWTS, but be prepared to wait a long while unless priced to sell. Waynes price originally was higher, but had to come down due to lack of interest. Nobber priced his to sell and did so within a week of listing.
