I just listened in my office full of people, oh well lol.

It is pretty loud. I'd not want that myself tbh!

I don't think I could handle it if it sounds like my car is going to fall apart on idle

Might just opt for the standard one and save a bit of money. God this is such a hard decision.

Lead time on sachs / helix is 4 days but standard one is only 2 days so i can get my car back quicker and not have to take the train to work lol

Did AmD say the standard one will be ok for your car? What's their opinion on the torque it can handle?

As yours is kicking out some mate ;)

Car is always better than train I agree, BUT this is a big decision so I'd be doing as much research as I can before taking the plunge.

As you drive it everyday to work, I think that noise would do your head in personally.

Just listened to it and it does sound bad :(

I drive the car to work every day in heavy traffic and always sit with the car out of gear so without a doubt the noise will drive me nuts.

Add to this the additional lead time and probably not being able to get my car back for another week, the decision has to be the standard clutch.

AmD say if im not going for more power then uprated is recommended, or if ragging it all the time and traffic light drags. Which im not....

Are you going to be able to deal with the 'bag of nails' sound that an SMF will give you on idle?

Is the Sachs paddle clutch you mention, Bill, the Organic version?

no its ceramo-metallic.. picture of one in tuffty blokes s3 thread

Brad what did B3LSY have on his ?
That sounded terrible, I wont fit one to my car

He had a sachs uprated clutch with SMF. You'd be better of fitting a new DMF with a uprated sachs friction plate which is rated higher than 300ftlb and wont rattle like a SMF does

when its their time to go its their time to go...
how many miles on it before it decided to slip?

luk oe spec works ok... add the sachs paddle centre plate if concerned.
works on 4wd cars which have a lot more load thru them than fwd lcr's

I think it should be ok on a new standard Clutch. It better be!

Its being recovered either today / tomorrow and will be ready by Monday. Cant wait to get it back especially as the train broke down today and I ended up walking the three miles left to work... hour and a half late!!

Time for a more positive update.... :)

Always wanted a polished mani to match the polished charge pipe. Got a tip off (thanks D.K again!) and picked up an inlet manifold on eBay pretty cheaply and sent it to the polishers to get polished. Here are some of the progress pictures he has been sending me

Polishing well under way and looking great!

Will update more when the polishers get time and sends the photos over.
