I'm beginning to think my car is cursed... It's lucky it still puts a smile on my face while I'm driving it... for now...

Now my cruise control appears to have borked. It works first time, til you turn it off. It then won't turn back on again come hell or high water. Stop the car, turn off the ignition and restart and it's back in business again. Once.

Anyone come across this before? I'm not missing something stupid am I?

Oh well, at least I can get the owl looked at while it's at the dealers... *sigh*

are you sure your switching the little toggle thing back to the on position ?

Yeah I'm not that daft :)

I thought it might be a fault with the stalk at first but the fact that it works again (albeit only once) after resetting the ignition suggests it's more than that.

It's as if the ECU freaks out and won't let me turn it back on again after one sitting...

does the stop watch icon show when you turn it on for the second time (even though it doesn't actually cruise)

I had something like that last week. I too think the electrics in my car are cursed. Difference was mine wouldn't even go into cruise once - just refused to work.

I've had an intermittent fault where the Engine Warning light (glowplug light on my FR TDI) kept flashing and the car would lose power. Stopping the car, turning the ignition off and on again would reset the error and it would drive away normally again for a random length of time - could be 10 minutes or 4 weeks - before the warning light lit up again. On one journey last week it came up twice and after the second reset I got onto the motorway and the cruise wouldn't work. After visit to cinema the journey home was flawless - no warning lights and fully working cruise.

It was in the dealers last week for them to attempt to sort out this annoying engine problem. They pulled the wiring apart checked the ECU and so far it has been OK.

Something I noticed this morning - I swear the stereo was changing volume all by itself. I know there is the setting to increase/decrease volume according to speed but I don't think it was that doing it would just randomly change volume up or down one notch. Very weird.

Okay it's turned more random now (my favourite type of fault!). First dual carriageway on my way home from work I tried the cruise and it didn't work. Turned the ignition off and on and it worked again... and it has worked ever since. I tried several times and it worked every time.

Grrrrr...
