cupra 16v air filter

hi ive got a 1998 ibiza mk2 cupra 2.0L 16v and ive got a universal air filter for it and i dunno what to do with the pipe witch comes from under the cover witch the HT leads are on tryed blocking it and it cut the engine out, would it ave ta go like it is on the standed air box or can it be took off cheers mike

draws air for the idle valve if i remember rightly

ref the filter make sure its oiled and maintained properly as i've seen what a crap dirty one can do to the internals

ok what shall i do with the pipe can i get one of them mini breater filters on there

breathers an option (good idea too) or tap into the air intake pipe

as long as it has free air (filtered) itll keep tickover and stop it getting gunked up

dont chav your valver, get a decent panel filter, more air plus induction noise, but at the same time u dont mess up the intake system as mentioned above. everyones a winner ( easier to fit as well )

i got a BMC CDA for mine, sounds absolutely immense, it has a slight whine to it which im not quite sure why but sounds awesome... well worth an investment.

BMC is the brand name
CDA is Carbon dynamic air filter or something like that.

Its just what they sell it as

Green cotton panel filter in the standard air box is the way forward, no noise on its own.



But......

Drill the airbox (wing side and NOT engine side) and THEN you'll get the noise!!

Specially when nailing it at 4 grand. mmmmmmm

if you do the lower and outside it still looks std from any other angle

sounds it to til you open it up

Second that The sound is awesome. Personally using a K&N panel filter but at the end of the day not really any different to the Green one.

just outside - if you drill engine side you will draw warm air in

mind you anywhere you can get the coolest air

I agree with everyones comments above about the standard airbox, but I fitted a 57i induction kit and noticed further improvements of improved throttle response and improved top end pull over the modded airbox.

As the weather improves, I might need to swap them back over, but over the winter it is definately better with the k+N.
