Aesthetics and also it can feel different on your foot. Different pedals may keep your feet bent at a different angle when hovering over them and also may provide you with different grip depending on the design :). IE my stock rubber pedals were bending my ankle up to an incomfortable angle. Different depths of the pedals can also reduce the distance travelled by the foot when pressing the pedal(not by a lot though), not to be confused with the pedal travel distance. Also different pedal widths may help you if have a tight space in which to do your footwork in ;). So overall there are a few factors to consider when buying new pedals.

ok but then say all the pedals are the same angles and sizes, but one is metal and the other is rubber, is there any differents apart from looks?

im guessing the metal ones would be a bit more slipper when wet (even wth rubber areas on) and would also make squeaking sounds with the sole of your shoe rubbing against them when wet?

I suppose then it just becomes a matter of aesthetics. If you live in a wet environment (England) then yes I suppose depending on your shoe sole it will squeek and you will have less grip if the whole pedal is metal. But even so most metal pedals have good rubber areas so you dont lose grip that easily and I seriously doubt you have a flat shoe sole so it will probably mold and lock onto the rubber areas. On the up side a metal one might help you move across the pedals faster if it is slightly slippery. In all honesty I'm not that xperienced with it all I'm just simply posting what I think that might be the effects of metal vs rubber pedals :p
