Just got a Cupra R front splitter and read the fitting guide in the Info Base section.

The only thing i'm not sure about is whether i need to drill pilot holes in the bumper or can you just screw the self tappers straight in?

Any advice would be apprecaited . Thanks.

self tappers straight in i believe....you might want to make a guide hole for each one first though.

im guessing however, mine was on the car when i bought it :D

Wouldn't do any harm to put pilot holes in - will make it easier what with the awkward angle you'll be working at with the screwdriver :)

Thanks for the advice, i may well just drill a 2/3mm pilot hole for each screw.

^ Sounds like a plan! Presumably you didn't get any cracks self tapping straight into the bumper?

Cheers.

I fitted an LCR splitter to my S3 and can confirm it definitely helps to

a) have someone helping you when offering it up for fitment
b) Drill pilot holes

Well worth the trouble of DIY though, looks mint :)

Job done! Pilot holes were not required - hadn't used self tapers in plastic before, but they went in a treat first attempt!

Looks wicked as well, and only cost £20!

What car you putting it on? I had to put a new one on my LCR as old one was marked. They just clip on!!! No screws or drilling required.

Have you got an R32 bumper on the Golf Stan? Or an Anni/Votex valance, if not they just dont look right on the standard GTi/4-mo bumper :(

Stu_pot you ever seen one on a standard bumper??? I cant find ont. Ive got the standard 4mo valance, with the extra vents over the GTi one. I reckon it "may" work, or maybe better if I coded the standard valance???? For £20 its worth a try I reckon

Nobody on MKIV's has done a standard one by the looks of it:

I was reading that very thread earlier :)

Can't remember who it was, might have been Andymac who had a 4-mo but due to the rake/curve of the standard valance, it just didnt look right.
If you mounted it higher up it looked ok but you could see the bottom of the valance below it and mounted lower down it sat further back and again, looked like a really bad afterthought...

It went on my 2002 Leon Cupra. The splitter is made for the LCR, the LC bumper hasn't got anything to clip it on so DIY time! It looks really good and fits the LC bumper really well - i think people stick them on Ibizas also.

Stan, here ya go (I still think it looks gash, too far back) :-

Yeah I saw that one earlier, I want to se some better pics cos it "may" look ok from a bit further back. If not then I'll bin the idea
