Desided to take a few things off and clean and paint some bits also...Plus im getting inpateiate waiting for it to be fixed i mean i could have this rebuilt in a week...But im still waiting for a date on the inspector...which im feeling wont be any time soon so ive gotta deside wether todo this my self...or not..

I took the inlet manifold off to give it some powdercoating and the same with the alternator and Rocker cover to freshen a few things up...So while looking down the inlet ports all 12 valves are straight and In tacked From Looking outside at it...So thats abit of good luck plus i wipped the Plugs out to see if they been smashed to ****ing peices and nope still good as new as when i put them in 7months ago...

Strange to say the least just the 8 exhaust valves to look at but things do seem promising as i think i havent dropped a valve...

Oh god lol that made me crack up altho well annoying for you never leave tools in side engines they don't work very well lol . Time to beat ur mechanic up i think

So your mechanic mate was responsible?

I'd suggest he starts putting his claim into his Professional Indemnity Insurance he's sure to hold.

The kit included everything todo with the timing belt chain and what ever wasn't with it I got from.seat which was mostly bolts....

My mechanic was a tech at Vauxhall the did 8yrs at Audi as cheif techy then went to work for AA for a number of yeahs then within the last 16months started his own garage up and he's just gettin his feet on the ground with work...

So I do trust him specially with my car....plus he ain't a normal Spanner monkey which is good....

I did suggest just dealing with him, and letting him resolve it.

Hopefully he's insured, and will do the work a) correctly b) at no loss to yourself

it did well to last as long as it did with an allen key floating around the belt area. at least you stipped it. it could have been quite embarrasing if the inspector did it.

What a bummer Danny, i feel your pain. How long did it take you to get the head off out of curiousity.

**** happens...

Start to finish took around 25-30mins also my coated ina manifold is as new as when I got it 1,250 miles in.......

I'm going to strip the pulley off and inspect any more damage around the crank bolt I'm guessing hopefully none..but there seems to be abit of metal down there from the pulley jolt...
Also with it all off I can tab in my afr setup with ease and strip the head down ready for new guides and a slight skim...

Then John's got the joy off lappin in all the ferrea valves and puttin it back together.

Just Some pictures:

The Bottoms Moves and feels fine and the top decks are still even...Bores are as they should be and the piston have some very small light marks on top...Which John said should be fine...

Some pictures of the head and abit of what i think is the bottom end Crank pulley No?

FFS! No way! As said above, would have been slightly embarrasing if the inspector spotted that..

Cant wait for it to be sorted..
