Really sorry to hear this Danny.

I don't understand how you can make a claim are you covered by insurance or are you making a claim through seat by using genuine parts.

You'll be back on the road in no time mate, chin up.

I think 'General Traffic' is the motor factor

You will need to prove liability, or for them to accept it. Which will cost you for an expert opinion to investigate and write a report.

And even then, they'll just claim it was fitted by an untrained person & walk away. Their insurance just won't stand for it I'm sure.

Yeah thanks guys...

I'm not sure what todo ATM as the car was perfect for me...plus with my new house I'm.not sure il be able to afford to rebuild it...

Heads in my arse ATM......
Rods and pistons hopefully will be ok. valves will need repacing, timing belt, head gasket, oil, coolant and head bolts.
You could do the work yourself for a few hundred pounds.

Yeah my mechanic said the same at that low speed he said it might be ok.....but its besides the point...

Heads coming off later it did snap just over 20mph coming up to 3rd but I was doing 7200rpm 10mins before which scares me..............

Just Tryon to keep my head up..

On my last car the Belts were prone to snapping (Alfa GTA), I bought the car from a garage with a full cambelt done at an Alfa Dealership the year before - There was an oil leak from the gasket as they had caught it putting the head back on! - the cambelt was covered in oil and needed replacing (a 1k job on the GTA)

I found a lad who built refurbed snapped cambelt engines - he did it for £200!

If you know what your looking at you will save yourself alot of money.

This engine is used everywhere im sure someone may be in a position to offer services to get a member back on the road.

If I knew my way round this engine I know I would mate.

Head up, the house situation will be adding pressure but just prioritise and keep a cool head.

Chris

The kit included everything todo with the timing belt chain and what ever wasn't with it I got from.seat which was mostly bolts....

My mechanic was a tech at Vauxhall the did 8yrs at Audi as cheif techy then went to work for AA for a number of yeahs then within the last 16months started his own garage up and he's just gettin his feet on the ground with work...

So I do trust him specially with my car....plus he ain't a normal Spanner monkey which is good....

Thanks Bill...

Anyway heres that log you needed it wont let me past and copy them in to a code to easy like this only went to 6440 with 001 and 031

If the temperatures are degrees centigrade for AIT then there's something very wrong.
All immaterial now though considering what's happened

If you'd have asked him to supply the parts you'd have had a claim against him as supply and fit, and you could have investigated suing him for the repair.

He did supply the parts which he ''Ordered'' through general traffic a local motor factors which are huge as you proberly already now..

He's collecting the car tommorrow to take the head off and do a Engineering report and survey.. He's spoke to GT and they are listening and the case does look promising the GT inspector is coming wednesday

I havent touched a think under the bonnet due to any plausable excuses being past on..But from what ive seen from the RAC the Bottom Crank Pulley Is on Good and so is the Cam Sprocket on the head...

I cant see anything inside the cover as im not allowed (sadly) but i will know tommorrow if its anything todo the Cam belt kit ive got a claim if the water pump has failed im ****ed...........But all was new at the time and genuine or Expensive parts..

If the cambelt he supplied and fitted [and failed] (regardless of where he obtained it from) he should be able to claim against his professional indemnity insurance and they'll cut him a cheque less his excess.

His insurers would then investigate, and could go after the suppliers (but they won't)

Don't get involved in anything other than the mechanic - it's his liability by the sound of it.

Just pondering.... but I think that if the belt failed, all they may be required to do is replace the belt - rather than consequential loss.... either way - not your issue

Totally understand what your sayin Mork...

But as a very good Daily Mate i wouldnt screw him over but i know its not his fault...Ive already sourced the parts id need if there isnt anywere to go with it,..

Wont know till tomorrow...

Other than incorrectly torqued pully's / tensioners or a belt being a tooth or two out what really can go wrong with a cambelt install with regards to the installer, especially since you've done a few hundred miles since. sounds more like defective parts. Have you scanned for fault codes recently danny which may have revield if the belt timing was a little out.

Yeah sunday night after i did the last logs and all i had was a N75 unplugged code which i done when checking the static pressure.
in my 001 & 031 did everything look fine carl lol
i'm not familiar with channel 001 so i won't comment but with regards 031 you do appear to be running a little rich with regards to whats being specified, this maybe the ecu dumping fuel to cool things down a little.
