Hi all,

I've owned my Ibiza for nearly 5 years now so thought I should do a thread to celebrate!
It will take me a while to create but I might as well start at the beginning! I like to keep things looking and mechanically OEM which you'll see in the things I've done!

Its a 99 mk2 8v GTi Cupra Sport in Bengal Yellow. 2 previous owners to me - the first owner from what I've been told was quite fastidious and the car wanted for nothing and in over 4 years of ownership covered just 7000 miles !!!! - he then traded in at a SEAT dealership in Nov 2003 from where it was sold to the second owner (lucky s*d!). I rescued it from doing huge miles in June 2005 with 39000.

The low miles were reflected in its condition as it was generally mint with zero rust

With the Cupra Sport not having a sunroof or aircon the first owner had a Webasto fully electric tilt/sliding spoiler sunroof fitted which seems to be of a high quality and I think integrates well. During installation the cutting of the headlining was a bit shoddy so I replaced it with a brand new genuine headlining panel (shown in pic below) bought from my SEAT dealer. With a cost of approx. £90 I have to say it was more than a little nerve racking cutting a (one shot only!) big hole in that and I don't think I'll ever measure/check something so many times again!

Heres some pics shortly after purchase and replacing the headlining:

There then followed a period of replacing a huge list of any less than perfect trim and generally cleaning things.

The next event was replacing the alloys with an NOS unused set of the originals!

As a result of two punctures within a week these were then shod with 195/50/15 Toyo Proxes T1R

Also found time to fit this little mod/upgrade from a VW polo saloon - chrome door opening levers:

The new wheels then highlighted the scruffy looking brake calipers behind so with the disks/pads due for replacement it was time for an overhaul.

Everything was stripped off back to hubs - the calipers/carriers were taken back to bare metal and given 2 separate coats of hammerite. New bolts, bleed valves and splash plates were also used.

Love it... It's really good to see an immacualte untouched example. Also really like the old Polo Coupe.

Keep the pics coming!

After searching for years and a couple of less than honest ebay sellers I finally purchased a set of these....

Unique to the Mk3 Ibiza Cupra R SEAT Sport OZ Superturismo's with 205/45/16 Falken 451 tyres. These have a 6 J width and are machined to clear Brembo calipers (an upgrade for later!)
One of the alloys was badly scuffed but I managed to source a Brand new unused ex display replacement from my SEAT dealer for £40! bargain I thought! The rest just needed a good detail.

Car detailed and new wheels fitted the day before and at Gti International 2007. I agree with comments that it needs to be lowered - thats in hand at the moment.

To get to Inters 2007 I had to bodge up the crumbling original exhaust backbox. The replacement of that was next on the to do list!

This has to be one of the best mk2 Ibizas in the country. So so tidy. The engine bay was a particular high point when I saw it at Inters 2008.

As people have already said, this has to be one of the best mk2's. Absolutely stunning and immaculate example. Its so clean, even the engine bay.

Wish mine looked that good on the outside. :(.

Definetely needs lowering though! ;)!

Out of curiosity, what profile tyres do you have on the Super T's?

Thanks for the positive comments!

It has its imperfections so my aim is to try and make the positives out number the negatives and as it is driven 1000 miles monthly in all weather (now on 92000) it can be a challenge.
If the opportunity arises to improve something for a little extra money/time I will.

In answer to questions: The handles are a straight swap (thread here somewhere) and the tyres are 205-45-16

More progress to follow (exhaust) once I sort the pictures.

I bit more history!

The original exhaust (from new!) had developed some bad holes and splits and needed replacement.

I ordered a replacement BOSAL part but found it looked cheap so returned it. A quick read of some threads on here and a further scan on ebay and I purchased a Mk3 20VT rear box for the bargain price of £20!!!

I was a little worried by its condition in the auction photo (below) but apparently it only had "low miles"

But after a clean with Megs metal polish It cleaned up surprisingly well!

This was fitted directly to the original 8v centre section with the aid of a custom stainless reducer and a couple of Mikalor clamps.

Using washers as spacers underneath the mounting brackets I found no need to cut the bumper.

More recently another scan on ebay produced a NEW genuine 20VT centre section. This is exactly the same pipe diameter as both the original 8v CAT and obviously the 20VT rear box so I fitted this with genuine VAG exhaust clamps (note the larger diameter silencer).
