deffo weak actuator....

After the first rolling road the boost was logged on vag-com and found to not be meeting requested, tried a known working N75 valve (from my car) which made no difference...

I then tested the actuator and found it to be set at 0.2bar, i set it to 0.5bar using the nuts on the rod (which i had to wind in further than i thought usually necessary to achive 0.5bar), and for a while the car boosted fine meeting requested boost perfectly.

However it seems it's now not meeting requested again, so i'd say theres deffinetly a problem with the actuator.

Dont go paying £350 for a actuator just on a whim...

Log blocks 115 & 118.

Could be on mild settings if its Revo...... Do you have a SPS to adjust the Revo settings?

Done...

ECU was requesting 1.1bar at 5k, yet it was achiving more like 0.7bar untill i intially adjusted the actuator when it met requested perfectly.

EDIT - Just now been told that it is hitting peak boost as usual, but then clips back to 1bar almost instantly... this is soft limp mode...
going to adjust the actuator back slightly.

Well just to bump this up, it was back on the same dyno today.

Its first run made 204.4 bhp and 244 ft lbs torque - although this run made it look like a K03 turbo!

Each consecutive run was as follows - 195 / 194 / 191, so it was losing power all the time and never made 200 + again...

We thought heatsoak, but I am now open to suggestions?:confused:

Next I think is the purchase of Revo SPS to adjust timing, and a Newsouth power gasket to reduce intake temps....

I hope it is heat soak - the strange thing is my friends MK3 cupra didn't suffer and made 213 / 214 / 215.....

Any other suggestions?

This may sound random, but is there an easy way to check if its running a K03 or K03s turbo? As the lad I bought it off, had it taken to AV Performance in Burton, who said it looked like the turbo had been off recently - and this would explain why it is struggling to go past 200 bhp?

Its deffo got a k03s unless someone has replaced it for a k03 at some point, doubt it though.

Like I said before mate, you need to get your Revo settings checked/changed..

Well I contacted monster motorsport today, who said they cannot just sell me the SPS plus software / interface and that my map would have to be checked and tweaked to suit - and they couldn't give me a fixed price on that :(

Is there any surefire way to check over the top of the engine bay, without removing half the engine to check the turbo my car has? Im no so sure it does have a K03s tbh - I will try and scan the graphs from the rolling road tonight...

It deffo wont have a k03 mate........

Contact Revo direct for a SPS. Or there could be someone off here that lives close by that has a SPS who could help you out.

Well a Newsouth gasket has been ordered, along with a yellow spring for the 007p to replace the green one in there currently.

Oh and I should be collecting a Revo SPS Plus module within the week;)

If its neither heatsoak, nor the timing then what else could it be thats causing such poor figures?:shrug:

These are two seperate dyno sessions on the same Rolling Road (CC Tuning in Burton).

Now I was hoping for / expecting 205 - 210, but was shocked and dissapointed at the results.

Runs 1 + 2 (day 1)

Run 3 (day 2) A tweak of the actuator (as it was on the low side - 0.2 bar), resulted in this :

Initially we thought it may be hitting soft limp mode on the second run, so lowered the actuator setting a touch, and the results went :

196 > 194 > 191 bhp.

Mine has 007dv, jetex cone filter, power gasket, forge TIP and SWICT re-map and mine was 224bhp and 249 lbf/ft but I am sure all rollers vary slightly as do the weather and other factors

im just wondering, why dont you go for a stage 2 map rather than tweaking things yourself?

As if the cars running poorly for a reason other than the remap, then it will still get poor results even with a stage 2 map.

They can't vary by THAT much surely?!

Adjusted the Revo settings since the last RR sesion?

No, I am collecting the SPS plus switch next Wednesday mate.

Doos the printout give a clue as to whether its a K03 or K03s turbo?
