I had to change the date on the main operating system.

Use the guides on the german site i posted above rather than the one in the faq section and be very careful with your german - there are lots of options in central electronics!

It wouldnt physically let me do the necessary for changing the interior lights to red....not sure why.

Also, the chirp lock/unlock was all done and activated.....just doesn't seem to work!

Might try again at the weekend!

OH - Also, how did you change the times it washes the headlights?Im sick of mine washing so often - makes a bloody mess of the sides of the car!!!!

Kugaman I had the same problem with the chirp.. Then I realised you need to go into the car menu on the main display then setup and switch it on!

Oh sorry - how. Just copied the guide on the german site. There are two options, duration/delay and interval. I don't understand the first one so I just halved he frequency. My car gets filthy doing 200 miles a day so the mess was not the issue, it's the running out of fluid every 2 weeks which was annoying me.

Yes mate, but I dont see this on the display, its not there.....

Thanks to RCOPUS just got my virtual XP machine up and running as per the excellent tutorial.

Tomorrow night I will see if I can get my VCDS software and lead up and running through the XP virtual machine as I does not like my windows 7 laptop at all.

Great to hear everyone else is now getting theirs working and able to make the mods.

Ok,
its been a marathon.....but Ive kinda got a little bit done.

I installed the virtual machine on my macbook and eventually got the rosstech software to work....took some hassle but I got there in the end.
Only issue I can't help s that it continually keeps changing the date back to todays date!

I managed to enable staging and also adjust the mpg to be more accurate. Ive also got the fog on turn lights to come on.

However, I cannot get the red lighting to work at all, cannot get the locking chirp to work and cannot get the fan speed in auto to work....so, some success....but still frustrating...

Glad to hear you got it to work. I think the date syncs with your main laptop's date once you install ‘Guest Additions’ in the VirtualBox. I find that it works fine for me when the VirtualBox uses current date, only slight thing that pops up from time to time is that a message box comes up saying that the VCDS is out of date. I just close the message, exit the control module I was in and then go back in again and continue as normal.

I will be able to confirm this when I get my car, shouldn't be long now as I just received an email from my Dealer to say that they have just received it - so hopefully next week pick up? I'm getting very excited now! lol

Once I get it I will also be able to provide an initial scan to see if any of the parts or firmware for the electric fold mirror has been changed for wk49+ cars.

Just wondering if anyone knows if you can set you DRLs to come on when you unlock the car? Also I enabled the rear DRLs and have noticed that my dash is now permanently illuminated, anyone else find this?

Hi guys

Just to let you know I have now also successfully got VCDS software and lead working through the virtual machine which would not load previously on my windows 7 laptop.
This is the OBD2 factory software.

When closing the virtual machine it asks if I want to save the state or power off. Do I need to save or just power off. Will the license expire and prevent me using the machine. I don't understand this snapshot thing?

Last thing to do when it gets light is plug into the car and hope it connects to the car ok.

Just enabled the alarm chirp on mine. If anyone's VCDS is in english then the "Ruckmeldungssingale -" options in the adaptation list is "Acknowledgement", the text after that is the same ie. in German.
