Typical. After doing the various trips to the relatives I'm suddenly finding I'm not getting any higher than 27mpg. Plug in the code reader - 17861.
So the second hand sensor lasted only 18 months 😡
I'll drop VAG Yard a message

Apparently it's the five rusty looking pins (dry joints) that are the issue. They need re-soldering.
I've got an electrical engineer mate so I'll see if he can do it.

Yeah, those are the ones that I re-soldered on mine but it didn't make a difference...I'm just going to replace the sensor when I get the chance. Had a lot of time off over Christmas and New Years, so I haven't done anything to the car at all. Just been driving it the way it is. But I'm going to start putting some money in to fixing all the little problems that is has, very soon.

I believe my EGT sensor is now gone completely 😂 I never got around to replacing it, and it never triggered the EML...But I plugged my scanner in for a different reason and I have a new code regarding the EGT. The temperature on live data is also permanently stuck on 1110°c and never changes. So it might be time to finally replace it lol

Watch your live MPG. If you do a steady speed the number will fall then rise then fall again as it keeps overfuelling instead of being constant.

I'm out and about in the Cupra today, so I'll have a look :) Do you know how many miles you get out of a full tank? About a week ago I measured it and got roughly 270 miles. I assume that's bad if my car has been over fueling. Even worse when it's costing me just under £100 for a full tank at the moment (for premium, 99 octane).

About 300 normally. Could only get 200 when the EGT was knackered

Hmm, so mine still seems fairly normal then 🤔 But I'm not entirely sure when the EGT sensor stopped working, as it never triggers the EML...Even if it only stopped working in the past week or so, it was only working intermittently before that, and I still got 270 miles out of a full tank (was mostly city driving and putting my foot down every chance I got). I'm still on the hunt for a new sensor either way, but I can only find 1 on ebay at the moment for £76. I found loads last time, which were a bit cheaper than that 😢 I should have bought one then lol

There are a couple of fault codes with the EGT. I think one is a permanent no-signal and the other is intermittent.
You might be best emailing [email protected] in Poland - he sells improved replacement circuit boards for £40

I have already ordered one now, for £50 🤷‍♂️ If I have any more issues, then I'll definitely look in to that improved circuit board...I was originally getting the code 17863 - Impulse Signal, which was intermittent. Sometimes the fault was there, and sometimes it wasn't. But now I'm getting 19861 - Open/short circuit, and the sensor isn't working at all on live data. It's permanently reading 1110°c now.
