Something to bare in mind is that your insurance on the 1.4 will got from £1400 to £600-£700 with 1 year NCB. May be worth keep your 1.4 for another year or something because then you will have 2 years NCB that you can use on the valver.

Looking good dude.
Keep your eyes peeled for a pair of 9J and some flat caps :D

Get a rear reflector for the back off a gti and a set of front fogs - then get it lower :D
If you are wanting to go down the euro line of things I wouldn't bother with side skirts - it looks nice and clean without them
Just get it lower!!!

So the plan is Get some sideskirts for mine, get it MOT'd. Then leave it as it is :) start looking for a valver march/april. Once i get a valver i want to refurb my borbet A's or get some standard ronals but have them in anthracide (or however you spell it). basically transfer everything thats on my mk2 now over to that. Luckily i kept the old suspension so may be able to reuse the coilies :)

Then maybe a year after having the valver maybe think about increasing its performance if i find 130 brake is not enough :p
