:(

Just having a look at pictures now to see if i can see anything. I'm guessing it's a Focus brake reservoir cap we're looking for?

I took the plunge and ordered that cap, it came today and fits a treat!

Was your battery hard to re-locate? I'm just worried about the wiring and if i should use a fuse or not.

Cheers

I think i'll have to give it a go. I'll have a search for wiring diagrams and stuff. Cheers Hooch.

no diagrams needed.

earth to chassis

live to starter motor. another live from starter motor to fuse bord on the side where they all join...in the words of gordan ramsey "DONE"

Now I don't want to sound like a killjoy, but have you guys really thought this 'No Fuses' thing through?

Two things...

Unless you're using suitably sized cable then you're wires gonna get toasty when you have to crank the engine for longer than usual ( when it's cold etc )

But the main thing is lack of fuses. Have any of you considered the consequences of this? I'm guessing not. Say that grommet ( I'm assuming you've at least used one of those ) through the bulkhead pops out or perishes. You now have the bulkhead slowly grinding it's way through the soft plastic layer around that live copper. Once the wire eventually touches the firewall the spark welds the two together. Which just leaves the battery shorted through the bodywork. Now that live wire running under the carpet, right under your passengers feet, is turning into a nice electric heater, which is more than likely to set fire to anything combustible in the area IE your carpet. Before you know it you're stood at the side of the road watching that shiny cupra of yours now turned into a bonfire to be proud of.

If you're lucky nobody has got hurt as you'd have time to stop and get out. But well... your friendly insurance assessor chuckles as he writes his report, knowing his bonus for finding a reason not to pay out is safe.

Food for thought, I know you'll all pounce and ignore me but thought I'd add my 2p worth.

Pete

i also wondered the same thing when 1st installing mine but many people assured me all was fine...

doesnt means its wright i know

Fair point pete, i thought they werent using fuses as they werent sure which ones to use so didnt bother lol. Would take some finding out as to what amp fuse to use tho as i can imagine the power blowing quite a few tbh

I understand that, but an initial surge of more than what the fuse is rated at surely would blow it? Or have i misunderstood?

I have an inline fuse which i could use if thats the case.

Fuses only blow if you try to pull over the current rating for a period of time. eg with a 100a fuse you can pull 100a all day long. You might be able to draw 200a for it for a minute or so constantly. I doubt you'd be blowing fuses if you went with a sensible value. I've never rolocated a battery personally so no direct experience, but it's not a huge issue to try it out yourself.

Just a quick thought for you guys aswel if you didnt know already, theres a nice spot for the cable to go through behind the pollen filter, thats where i got my 0awg cable through for my amps. I didnt use a gromit tho i stuck a fair bit of silicone around it insted
