I finally have a picture showing the problem.

Top left is the broken ear (you can see the threaded hole is no longer complete).

Top right you can see the sheared bolt that needs fixing as well.

Quote check for cambelt kit, water pump, engine mount fix

Hi,

Just to run this past you guys so I can negotiate if required.

Dealer quote for:

1. New cambelt and tensioner kit.
2. New water pump.
3. Drill out and replace one engine mounting bolt (sheared off).
4. Fit 'Van Gogh' ear to fix the other engine mounting bolt (I'm supplying kit).
5. Mod positioning of intercooler pipe to suit #4
6. Rebuild the bits stripped off to diagnose the engine mounting bolt problem.

£520

Thoughts?

Based on a reasonable price of around £320 for cambelt waterpump replacement with parts, I wouldn't say the price is unreasonable, bearing in mind the difficulty of accessing the broken sections with power tools. I wonder if you will need a new engine mount too?

That's pretty good to be fair... Dealers have been known to almost charge that for just the cambelt & water pump.

Make sure it's a quote though... Estimates are worthless.
