Recently my engine cover has started banging against the strut brace when starting and when engine is under sudden load. I trimmed it ages ago so it wouldn't do this but seems the noise is back.

I removed the cover and the noise has gone but I do notice a bit of a thud when the engine starts (even tho I have the clutch disengaged). Could this mean my engine mounts are knackered? Are they easy to replace if so?

If you can rock the engine with your hands then a engine mount is prob gone.

Remember that engine mounts aren't solid so you might get a little movement.

I'd use a jack gently to check the engine mounts as the engine is very softly mounted and maybe the mounts are fluid filled. A failed engine mount will have broken free at one end (usually).

my money would be on the dog leg mount out of the three is your recirculating valve just rattling underneith the cover?
