EGR Valve?

Ok so further to my last post about my 1.2 Ibiza's Engine Light coming on, I took it to the local SEAT dealer (who charged me £65 to look at it!! )

They say the EGR valve needs changing, at a cost of £110 + labour. I have noticed the car stuttering, and sometimes stopping accelerating for a split second.

Does this sound fair, or can it do without being changed? Dont want to cause damage to the engine!

Yes, sorry! However the dealer has just phoned me, and cant get the part in until the end of July.

Is this safe to drive? Do I even need to change it really?

afaik you can block the egr valve off but you will have an engine management light on for good but triple d done this not sure if there is any performance benifits tho??
