wish i could!
a 16yr old, going back to 6th form with a part time job can't afford it mate!

Spending all my money on the rally car at the mo mate, just bought it uprated calipers/disks all round!.

Dion!

When I was 16, I was working 23 hours a day down pit trying to put food on a plate for my 10 children. Never mind building rally cars.

Pth, youth of today, don't know they're born.

:p

right guys, thinking of putting a cone filter/induction kit on it.
I just want a bit of noise but not too much.
Anyone done this?
Photos and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Lets see this!

Havent got any recent pics of it mate, its my ongoing project.
I've fully strengthened the front end, and its got a brand new front panel including crossmember. New wings also going on.
Painted in olympic blue by myself.
Bought a brand new engine from my local vauxhall dealer. Standard spec at the mo, but i have another one on a stand being built up to better spec.
TBH, having trouble at the mo, wiring the 16v into the car as the cables are running opposite sides to a nova!

anyway, front end photos, underneath also strengthened and stonechipped!

When I got it:

Did a road rally in it when it was 1.2 8v before the rebuild for a laugh (dad driving, me navigating as i was only 13 haha)!

Went for subaru metallic green first, but i didn't like it, so I started again:

This will be my number one priority car once I've passed my test, because I'll hopefully be doing some road rallying!

I can't seem to find an induction kit/cone filter to fit the 45mm body so I've bought a pipercross 70mm filter and I'm gettting some silicon hose elbows to fit the filter and body and pipe it to the front with stainless steel piping at the end of the month.
This is getting done by a local guy who specialises in stainless steel fabricating.

Thoughts and comments always appreciated.

nice wheels mate, really like the smoked out rear light too, how did you do it?

Just stretched tights over it mate, they're off now though, and I would'nt reccomend doing it tbh.
They held all of the water and they ripped really easy.
They did look cool when it was dry though!
I think I'll just get tinting spray and do it properly.

Now that does look smart! Great motor for a 17yr old? As other have said i hope the insurance is ok for you.

Is that a Vauxhall Nova rally car you have?

yep mate, Mk1 nova, GTE rep with a 1400 16v engine (tigra)
Will be specc'd for RAC logbook (eligable for stage rallying) but I will keep the rear seats etc inside so i can compete on road rallies aswell.

Thanks for the comment!

Thanks mate, should be looking good once I've finished it!

Thinking of tinting my windows in a bit on the ibiza, anyone know if it'll look better light tint all round or limo on back 3 windows and light on front?

Havent updated this in a while. The ibiza will be hopefully made road legal in the next month ready for my birthday on the 21st of Jan.

I've not done much with the car lately as I've been building a hire car 50/50 with my brother, now that's ready and being hired out on weekends I can finish the ibiza.

I've fitted and wired a soundsystem in the car, no photos sorry.

Ive tinted the rear lights properly with tinting spray (still need FR lights though!)

Just need my wheel bearing on!

Liking the yellow calipers and drums against the blue. Very different.

Looking good now. Love those wheels. Hard to come by.

Thanks,

the wheels might be going for sale in a bit as a close mate has a set of 16" BBS multispokes with polished lip (Polo GTi wheels) for sale.

Comment much appreciated,

Dion!

Long Time!

Not updated my readers ride in a while now! Been frequently looking at the site but not updating!
Since the last time I've.....

  • Had My 17th
  • Passed My test
  • Got the car through MOT
  • Tax
  • Tinted windows
  • Sportex back box
  • Generally keeping the outside tidy
  • Soundsystem fitted

As the MOT was coming closer, I decided I'd do it propperly so the car got everything it needed.

  • Front Pads
  • Front Disks
  • Rear drums
  • Rear shoes
  • Oil & Filter
  • Pollen filter
  • A/C refill
  • Spark Plugs
  • Fuel filter
  • All new front bushes
  • Air filter
  • New exhaust from front
  • 4 new tyres

After that was over, i got the car tinted at a local guys place (north wales) www.uniquetint.co.uk - Can't do him justice, amazing job. I then fitted a new sportex 3" back box to the car. I think that it's more or less finished now, just need to lower the back around 40mm and may get a debadged grille.

Any thoughts/comments/ideas about the car are much appreciated.

Thanks,

Looking very smart Dion, as far as first cars go it looks excellent!

Well done passing your test buddy, like you I had a car well before I'd passed my test, the wait to be legal was horrible!

What % tint did you go for on the back? 70-80? I think they look great, I can tell they aren't limo, IMO they look better as they are showing a bit of light. :)

Get those door handles colour coded! (note to self, do my own!)

Keep up the good work lad.
