Right had new plugs fitted today some bosch ones with a 0.35mm gap. has been fine for 60 odd miles then just coming home giving it a bit of death as you do, it goes into limp mode and unline before it wont come out, ive got 4 new BKR7E's so im going to fit them tomorrow instead of these Bosch ones, just wandering if people think its the plugs that have caused this ? I dont have vag com :(

Rob.

0.8mm to 0.35mm is a massive change!

i'd try 0.6-0.7mm minimum, end of the day your not running 400bhp

mine are about 0.75mm and i'm at 200bhp currently.

true, well ive got some BKR7E plugs here which i think are what most use ?

Is it a 10mm spark plug socket to remove the plugs ? And how do i remove the coilpack ?

Thanks

Also if i fit new plugs and that is what caused it which is most likely, will it come out of limp mode ? or will the faults need to be erased ?

I told you it was wrong last night. The guy who fitted them is a numpty, dont care if he got a 400 brake car.

.032"/0.81mm standard.

I regap my BKR7E's to .028"/0.71mm

Put them asap and go throw them at the dude that put them in. (but keep them and regap them for spares.)

You can possibly run more timing on regapped plugs on a 'chipped' car.

fitted them, seems like i can do something lol

Freezeing now though

So why would that put my car into limp mode ? I rang them at that place and he said, if plugs were gapped incorrectly it would missfire, if its in limp mode its going to be a sensor or something.

i know its hard to tell in a pic, but heres one of the re-gapped bosch

Oh right, there is no way its 0.71mm that plug more like 0.35mm for sure. the BKR7E's looked for wider

A plug with too small a gap will always fire - so no misfire. It would inadequately ignite the mixture. Hence the car would not make the power the ecu thinks it should, it would think mixture was too rich etc, all leading to limp mode and possible CEL.

Not sure if it is, they are very good over there diaged my car for nothing.

Fault that came back was boost deviation low, something along those lines, anyway my mate who owned the car before me had this problem...

top man at midland vw advised me that problem could be because im running a N75 J valve, when revo stage 2 is setup for a standard N75, he said apart from that the car is perfect, good vacuum etc

Also he said it hasnt been into limp mode, it just cut the boost, or something.
