Just a quick note to let you know, i got pulled last night for having plates that were not legal. I'm not sure if they were german or spannish as i bought the car as is, but a new peice of legislation has come in this week, and under that new law i was given a £30 fine and a producer.

Great after owning the car for LESS THAN A WEEK!!!

Copper was nice enough, and i didnt bother giving him any hastle as hes only doing his job, but i think its unfair to charge some1 for something that hasnt even been made publicly aware (by his own admission!!)

Anyway... be careful !

Everybody knows that number plates have to have a certain spacing, font and size, so you can hardly say the law's unknown...

New law? Its been illegal for ages to have dodgy number plates.

Never been stopped, been through tax checks, been followed by the police and not had a single problem in about 10 months, seems you were unlucky.

So its illigal for us to have English number plates but in a german/spanish style but its ok for germans/french/pol`s etc... to drive in England on a permanant basis with there style of number plate? Sounds about right for the UK, Would be racist otherise i guess . I can understand it with all these differant fonts 3D lettering backgrounds etc.. But if its illigal for us to have german style then all these pol`s you see driving around should be made to have there number plates transferd over to english plates!

Just my 2p

David.

It all depends on where the car's registered so as long as obeys by the rules and regulations in that country then they're fine. It's like if you go out to Holland for instance, you can use your car there, temporalily, on your UK plates without having to change your number plates or re-register it.

Thats what im saying though, Most of the pols here are planning on staying here permanamt taking our jobs and sending the money home (ok i wont start on that subject) so they should be made to transfere there reg plates!

The car's still registered in Poland though...

I think there are laws which say if your car is here for more than a certain time you do have to register it with the DVLA, but I can't be bothered to go find them as I'm supposed to be working now. ;)

the copper said to me it was a new peice of a new peice of legeslation. im just going on what he said mate.
ive changed them back now anyway. so not a major train smash. just a shame as i really liked them, that was all. They were those metal plates too, so looked really nice. Plus £30 is £30 regardless.

Never mind, im over it.
