Had an evening at the yard... I thought I would have a go at making a carbonfiber sheet for covering the spare wheel well I have cut out
So I started with a sheet of glass. Cleaned it, then used a degrease then polished it.

Then gave it a coat of a PVA release agent.

So I had a roll of carbonfibre
20210517_202118.jpg
I marked it with masking tape to a rough size of 850mm x 950mm then cut threw the tape this will stop the edges from fraying
20210517_202130.jpg
Then I cut 4 sheets to layer up ready.
20210517_202232.jpg

So I layer the first sheet down and squared it up to hopefully look good. As the first sheet down on the glass will be the one on show.

Then repeat. Next layer and then with a paint brush cover the carbon. Then the next and the next
Then I put some thing called peel ply on top. This is ment to soak up the left over resin but it won't stick to the carbon

And this is how it was left in the workshop... tomorrow will be the tell tale if it works or not. So will update tomorrow

It's not to bad for a first attempt... think I needed more release agent on the glass. I had to scrap it clean with a razor blade.... right next attemp. Not sure what to make tho... was thinking of doing the splash sheilds in the wheel arch . But do them out of kevlar carbon mix .. any one got any ideas

Had the grinder out. Cut the floor ready to start moving the seat over
20210526_195658.jpg

Had some 1.5mm sheet, so cut it over size a bit and bent it to 90° this week end we will shape it more and cut to size
20210526_195728.jpg

And by doing this and keeping the seat rails shortish to normal lengths and not extending from the door sill to the reshaped tunnel. I am going to box the sill inwards to basically just move across
20210526_195739.jpg

Then weld in the seat rails. Hopefully this will move the seat over and still stay strong enough.

That must improve also the weight distribution to the center. 😋
It seems as a never-ending project as new to do work showing up in the list. I personally would feel overwhelmed by this :help:. Congrats for the work.
