So far no post regarding the new version of F1 assys. Has anyone tried them yet? improvements looks good, less weight, better dry grip when braking and cornering. They advertise that the contact patch enlarges with more weight (=braking), does this mean smaller contact patch (=less grip) when accelarating with front wheel drive as the front lifts..?

i would say so, less grip on accleration but on a twisty road they could be better, less drag more mpg on long motorway cruises. theres positive and 1 negative not bad really.

Your contact patch will always increase under breaking as you are squashing tyre into road.

This is why when coming upto tight corner at speed you break late in straight line to squash tyre into road giving max traction before turning into corner. This moves the mass of the car toward the front axle making front tyres work harder to give more grip.

Conversely, when accelerating, mass moves to rear axle reducing contact patch of front tyres which reduces traction.

Buying some end of the month when my summer wheels go back on.

Camskill tell me they can supply them and that they are same price as previous version, so £120 inc delivery a corner + fitting.

Thats interesting to know. I haven't seen them advertised on camskill yet. Is that their official line?

Emailed them and one of their sales guys replied with some text to paste into the order box to get them at that price, so I guess so. I think they're waiting on full details from Goodyear before listing.

I have used the previous versions briefly and can strongly recommend them.

Fabulous grip, wet or dry.

These new ones sound excellent, - would be great to hear feedback from someone with them.

Not wanting to drag up an old thread unnecessarily but just to reply to Jedimaster65 and for anyone else.
I bought 2 of these tyres for the front and must say I'm suitably impressed with them so far in the wet and dry and also through road noise. I'd happily get some more for the rear to see if that helps further with road noise. Only had the car a few weeks but the budget tyres I had on the front were crap and had to be changed asap. £106 balanced and fitted each which ain't bad as far as I know.

Cheers.........Mad Jock
