Hi im using about 2-3 litres per year top up, petrol tfsi 2006 doing up2 9000miles a year, done 30000 so far, is this normal

i guess its about normal, how come the cupra doesnt use any oil ive gone through 3 litres by 15000 miles

Guess it all depends on the engine make up.Half a litre in a year seemed fine to me.These engines all seem to use a bit of oil though.Just need to dip it often as we all do every time we use the cars of course.Ha Ha.

07 Cupra. I do 30,000+ a year and I haven't had to use a drop between services - and I do check it regularly.

As said though it can always vary engine to engine.

My FR TDi has never needed topping up between services - and yes, I do check! Just have it changed at the service and that's it for the next 6 months! :)

all low milage engines seem to use more oil but as you get the engine bedded in with a bit of milage you will find it uses less as engine not as tight and free,s up cutting down the friction burning off the oil.this does sound backward but think about it and you see the big picture as i said all new cars do use more oil....on average once reached around 25-30.000 miles you.ll notice difference

I think this could be because we all drive different and do different length trips each day and prob use different oils etc. If I keeps the revs down until my temp gauge is fully up I can go 2000 or 3000 and not use a drop. Just what I have found out myself.

My FR TDi has never needed topping up either not even while running in, and I still check every month or so. I've done 16k in mine now.

What, not even when it was new and running in?

My Leon needed a top up today, almost 4k miles now from new.

I got it at 12k so I couldn't say what it was like before that, but I'm on 52k now and I've never put a single drop in.

I'm doing about 500 miles a week, mostly motorway.
