How to check for fault codes

17608 - Boost Pressure - N249

07705 - Dump Valve - Got quite loud before the eml came on, has it failed completely?

17545 - Fuel system too rich. Could the first 2 cause this?

Just to jump in, when you say 'get a reader', do you mean buy VAG-COM or is this something else? Vag-coms a bit dear!!

a reader will provide a code and erase the light, but nothing more, vagcom is a lot more detailed in diagnosis etc.

Best thing would be to reset them and drive it till the lighht comes on again then see what code it is a I expect all 3 didn't come on at once.

17545 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Rich


I have a VAG code reader that tells you the code and the sheet that tells you what the faults relate to.

My bad! Yes 17705. My idea is

Remove the N249 and replace the dump valve for a forge version. Would this get rid of those codes?

Not sure what to do with the last one though, is replacing the maf a step in the right direction?

From reading the Rosstec bit above the first 2 look related?

Has the N249 valve been bypassed? if not you could try bypassing it?

It might do....I have a standard Bosch valve you can try if you like?

My MAF went last week and the fault code was 16486
