I remember the days of insurance quotes like this however back in the day you could be insured on your parents policy without problems, nowadays they have cottoned onto it. It does get better though keep a clean record and the price soon drops.

All my mates used to laugh when I told them what my insurance bill was, glad I'm not the only one with such high premiums.

1. 17yrs old - Provisional License - £1300 - Fully Comp, in my name - Quinn Direct
2. 17yrs old - Full License - 0yrs NCB - £2300 - Fully Comp, in my name - Tesco
3. 18yrs old - Full License - 1yrs NCB - £1100 - Fully Comp, in my name - Admiral

So little difference in price between 3rd Party and Fully comp that I went fully comp. I have no modifications to mine.

To all of you insured as your mum as the main driver... you need to read up on 'fronting' and 'insurance fraud'

Allrite mate, i was in the same situation as you..

The insurance for mine is £800 third party fire and theft, with my mum.

The little ibiza goes quite well. ive had 115 out of mine. I wouldnt bother to much with mods, they wont make a great deal of difference, engine mods anyways. There really good on fuel and for a first car they handle pretty well. ive kept up with a peugeot 205 1.6 and Vtr so you wont be doing that badly. If you lower it and get some fairly decent tyres it will handle pretty good. My advice is to get the chill model like me :) it has climate control which is good when we have sun in England !

anything else you need to know?

dont know if you want to fit a sound system ? its difficult with the inbuilt tape player and facia. You'll need to be electronically minded to fit a sub and amp, thats if you want to. There are plenty of threads showing you how to do it :)

just renewed mine the other week , should have 2 years ncb but wrote off my first 1.4 when i was playing against a vtr :p anyway im paying 950 and im 20 on my own with £300 voluntary excess.

good points about the mk3
had 115 out of it with hitting top revs :D (good times)
VW and Audi reliability, will easily last longer than you intend to keep it
if written off worth around 2250 with about 82K miles on the clock :D (so probs more than youll pay for it hehe :))
excellent all round cars
remote central locking, climate control and aircon, electric windows on most models.
Get an mp3 cassette and have that ipod blasting out, get a decent cassette or Itrip thingy, some of them come with a Cd changer and the standard ones play copied discs not all tho mind.
mMost models come with 14" alloys as standard and with time and a little bit of work you can turn them into cupra replica's :p

o yea this forum can help u out loads, saved me this morning with my remote central locking hehe.

peace x
