I saw that car for sale - yes very nice. Those are both wide arch bumpers though if from same advert?

The wide ones I have - front is 167.5cm across the tips - rear is 170.5 across tips

80mm! That would give the car a nice footprint. I was going to go with the kit car body kit if I could get the wings and quarters to make moulds but then I reconsidered when I looked at the rear axle. I thought I could have used a mk2 golf axle but the mounting points where all wrong. I then resigned myself to to running standard bodywork.

Also considered using the Hockly universal independant rear suspension setup..

Did they used a machined steel block or alloy block behind the stub axle?

Its like I said earlier, these forums are great for discussing ideas. There may be a change of direction on my build at some stage.

Not to worry. I know the type of thing you mean. Have seen similar on other cars.

The narrow track at the back of the beeza does worry me slightly, but I must admit it hasn't created any problems in my road cupra. Just think wider should give me more stability in the corners hence why Im going 10mm per side at the rear but like I said i may have to reconsider.

Ok, spent a bit of time searching this evening regards front and rear track. I dont know how accurate the websites are and my copy of autodata is but for the kit car im getting front track is 1606mm and rear is 1608mm.

For the cupra front is 1429mm and rear is 1394mm. That would mean an increase of 88mm per side on the front and 107mm per side on the rear.

I wonder if different front arms from say a mk3 golf would help a bit at the front? Any thoughts? Not sure what to do at the back. Ideally would think some axle from the vw range mmight give some increase in width then use the spacer block to finish off.

Have you had any ideas floating around rob?

I have changed the front end of my car to VR6 spec - by my reckoning its 21mm per side wider - I have then made the rest up with wheel offset - mine are 8x16's ET10. It hasn't affected the handling adversely but then I have changed the steering and suspension geometry also.

I have a rear axle off a VR6 but like you said, the mounting points are different - will measure that tonight across the stub axle mount flats - cannot remember the width. Looks like some of the beams of lesser Mk3 golfs are even wider.
