i was going to do a search for this but didnt have a clue what to search for...

Basically, if i am just cruising along at about 2000rpm, any gear doesnt matter and i decide i want to put my foot down, i do so, revs shoot up to about 3000rpm, then drop down a few hundred then go back up again.

however, if i boot it from lower revs, say put it into 2nd and boot it straight away, it just accelerates normally with no funny drop on revs/power.

I have this on my revo'd tdi cupra, also had it on my previous upsoluted tdi cupra.

Should i be worrying about anything or is this perfectly normal?

Cheers

Is that not the clutch slipping? I was told when test driving a car to put it into 4th or 5th when doing about 30 and floor it and see if the revs rise but the car does not follow suit.

Sounds like the clutch slipping to me aswell, there are ways to get around clutch slip by dropping down a few gears then boot it or feed the power in progressivly by not just booting it or the last option would be an uprated clutch. I know that jbs do sachs ones at around £550+vat iirc.

whoa thats a lot of money!! obviously its nmot good the clutch slipping but does it cause much damage when doing this?

its a sign of it 'going' eventually it will fail. id get it replaced mate tbh. what mileage u on? as said, it may be worth investig in an uprated one, i dont think there will be much difference in price to a seat one...

im on 36000 miles, baught the car 2nd had, was revo'd round about 19k i think he said, so almost done 20k on it! i'll have to have a look into it soonish then.

Thanks chaps
