makes carting my 4 year old a damn sight easier. and he loves it.....keeps shouting at other black Seats because he recognises the badge haha.

Is that your mk1 cab?.....really after one of those. :D

the mk1 used to be mine (Mrs daily) but now lives in Devon (I think) replaced it with an A2 which is suprisingly fun but not as much as a mk1 cab!

s'pose I should sort out my sig pic at some point really

I still think the Mk1 Leon is a gorgeous car, particularly the Cupra / R models in silver, grey or black.

This thread makes me sad as you know that one day they're all going to get b@stardized, and that day is fast appraoching. It can never be disputed that they were one of the best looking hatches of their day, one of SEAT's real moments of pure genius.

mine will stay as the good seat intended, so thats one less that will get ruined;)

Reminds me of the Corrado....

Then : An ultimate Sports Car - Simililiarly had LEON likes... Hatch design... an ICON of its day.

NOW : The perfect platform for a jolly good b@stardizing... so sad...

I wont even mention Honda CRX... Cant remember the last stock one ive seen...

(ok - Reality here may be different to UK. But i think the disease is very similiar worldwide...)

I see LEONS getting into the hands of those that managed to **** up an Ibiza or other cool smaller cars...

Now it feels like a brand new canvas

we're still safe... all the little to**ers in bury are still in small french rubbish, some have moved on to fake M3s or fake ctr (R badges everywhere but nothing to back it up except for a huge pipe at the back)

ive seen some Leons around by me (Carmarthenshire) driven like theyve nicked the things certainly puts a bad name to our cars,
Espically that twat in the Black lcr with either DV or induction kit on,that finds the need to hammer it up the same street every Saturday lap after lap.

I'm a chav, i am for ever doing burnouts in Mcdonalds car park.

More to the point...Im glad younger people are buying them, maybe it will stop some of the more snooty LCR owners looking down there nose at everyone and thinking that there car is some sort of prestege sports car. Thats not aimed at anyone in particular, i just often get the impression from some LCR owners that they are up there own arse about owning a sub 10k 5year old hatch back. Of course as prices come down young people will buy them, that's just what happens.

i think as theyre getting cheaper, they're obviously getting more accessable to a certain clique and inevitably one day we will see a LC with 48" chrome spinners and a burbery interior. BUT If it makes anyone feel a bit better, i organised a seat meet lat month, about 30 people turned out and not one chav! very few asthetic mods could be seen and everything was very tasteful and everyone behaved themselves. so we're not doing too bad... yet

Guess its all to do with prices, around my way there is sh1t loads of evos in the hands of chavs and similar idiots, people who a few years ago would have no hope in hell of owning one due to the prices so i guess like any good performance car as prices fall the chavs will scoop them up!

'Chav'

Definition: the lower class; uneducated and ignorant people
(dictionary.com)

To start with I wouldn't say people buying leons are uneducated.
I have found most people who do buy them actually know what they're looking for. Many people started out looking for a golf mk4 but then after doing a bit of research realised the leon was cheaper and better looking.

Ignorant.. Maybe, but people are always going to be ignorant of the rules of the road. However if you put the same plonker driving like a nob in any other car he can drive like a nob in, he will.

I don't think that the leons are going to get *******ised any more than any other car. Yeah sure, some 18yr olds will put a tacky bodykit on it, but I think you'll find most people upgrade to cupra/r model bumpers and skirts so you can't knock that. When I was 18 I wanted to put a bodykit on my gold fiat brava.. Hindsight eh?

And people are too quick to judge anyway. I'm young, I wear a combat hoodie and drive a leon cupra. I bought it because I wanted a car that'd look good and be efficient and practical. I've broken the speed limit occasionally (just like everyone else). I've driven it to illegal raves before.
However I have never been arrested, taken to hospital, never started a fight (since school) and have a clean licence.

Picture this: If i overtook you, you might just think i was a chav trying to be a bad boi, but if you overtook me on the same theoretical bit of road what you expect me to think of you?

I think i would get classed as a 'CHAV' as i like to wear trackies n hoodies n i have a skin head,i listen to house music and i used to drive a corsa SRI!!! lol. but real 'CHAVS' have no job or have a very low paid job so realisticaly no 'CHAV' would be able to afford a LCR or LC never mind the insurance, people should never judge a book by its cover as the sayin goes

Ive just turned 17 and bought my 1.4 leon 3 months ago, all my mates have modded their car by making them replicas and they try to rip it out of me for having it standard (ive put alloys on and lowered 20mm, and colour coded rub strips and both bumpers), but whats the point of making your car look like something its not, i just want to have a nice, smart looking car that will do the job and still looks amazing.
