Damage Magnet

Your quotes sound a little high, although you might be getting the rear bumper done as well. Make sure you go to Body shops that do cash work. A lot only do insurance work as they can charge double!

I just had my 02's rear end done as a "Woman" failed to notice that I was stopped at a red light and smacked in the back of me. New tailgate and bumber plus badges trims and paint and I had one quote at just over a £1,000 and one at £2,000, despite being told that it is all standardised these days! I went for the more expensive one on the basis they were to absorb the cost of another persons incompitant supermarket parking to my passenger door.

Now get this, the first time I went to pick the car up having been told it was ready, some foxes came in in the night and scratched the new bumper! Isn't that the best motor trade bullsh*t story! The fox also made the sprayer forget to do half the job as well. This was all made more annoying buy the fact that the hire car I had was a Citroen C4, which I would like to vote as the worst new car I have ever had the displeasure of driving.

Just got the car back and went to the bike bay last week to ride my Suzuki SV650 home and some g1t had knocked that over. £100 on parts alone not to mention the now ruined paintwork!!

I would have parked it on a drive if I had one :( It was on a straight piece of road - no reason for anyone to do any maneuvering or anything. I always try and avoid parking next to any dodgy looking cars, but there is only so much you can do...

Yeah, this is very true mate....Some people are complete :censored: 's like you've said!

Quotes aren't what I'd have expected though

Noting the rear bumper looking at about £350 (similar to what our lass had done when it rolled down the hit intoa parked car (after being parked with hand brake on for half an hour)

ah but did the police do anything!?

Yea they said thanks, eat a doughnut, then on your way out, they stopped you for not wearing a seatbelt & fined you £60.............

pretty much, they looked at me like a nutter and asked what i expected them to do about it.....Ehmm try doing some detective work, f*ckwit???

Thats why i went to look for the guy myself. they didn't even look slightly embarrassed when i came back with a result in less than 10 minutes[:@] In the end i think the guy just got a bollocking - if it was my own car i'd have petitioned for castration

Hi mate,

sorry to see the knock. Like people say will be about £300 ish for a good repair.

In the meantime mask up the rest of the wing/car ans slip a bit of primer or something on to stop it rusting.

Hope you get it sorted

Got the other quote through the post today... £313. Not bad

I think I will book it in with them some time next month - they said they want the car for 4 days - I have got some holiday coming up so I will get it done then.

The company has been recommended to me and will include the repair of the arch and a respray of the rear bumper. I will post pics when the work is done for anyone who is interested...
