Well this week JKM have fitted a new CV boot & brake line while I was away - and a fresh MOT

Today I've stuck a new MAF on, air filter & 4x spark plugs. Finally it's come alive! Truth be told it was dog slow, and I was getting fed up with it!

Anyway

Remap on the 19th, probably an exhaust by then as well. Cruise stalk has arrived, but I left my vagcom lead & laptop in Glasgow, so that will have to wait until next weekend.

Pela pump also turned up this week, so I'll get the oil changed soon too!

;)

New oil in now, mats & a few bits. Hopefully a new exhaust this week, fit the new headunit after the total abortion of a wiring mess the last owner left - no wonder it kept kicking in & out.

oh, and cruise control install this weekend too.

Well the car is hugely different now.

Revo stage 1 remap was uploaded yesterday morning - thanks to Kev. Once again, a remap is the best mod you will do in one go. I chose Revo for the same reasons as on the Ibiza.. I like the adjustment facility & valet mode / security mode that it offers. I'm not a numbers chaser - I want (and Lorna wants) a nice flexible engine.

Then I went down to Backdraft Motorsport who were offering discounts on their Blueflame exhausts... the old exhaust was dead. rusted / snapped off bits (which amazingly passed the MOT) meant it needed to be replaced asap.

I'll elaborate later on the efforts that Alex had to go to to ensure the exhaust fitted perfectly, but despite it being 'just' cat back the exhaust has made another huge difference.

The sound is very similar in the cabin to OE, not chavvish (unlike my other two cars lol)

It was like driving home a totally different car.... But seeing the car from underneath reminded me how crap the downpipe is, so that'll be next to go.

Today I'll rewire the radio wiring, and fit the new iPod ready HU, and install the cruise control (as long as the rain stops)

Won't be getting a rear ARB, this is the most sensible of the cars, rather than a A/B road blaster

I'd like to make the suspension more compliant, so probably new dampers (maybe Koni FSD's) and a few other choice mods to air breathing (DP & intake)

FMIC was on the cards, but because of the washer jets that won't happen with the Forge off the shelf kit. And because it has to be the sensible daily I'm not going to make something fit etc.

Are you doing any handling tweaks?

Honestly, compared to the Clio & MX5 it handles so badly I don't think anything short of going to town on it will make it handle as well. As said ^^ dampers are needed.

I know you say you wont do ARBs, but they dont stiffen the ride much, I think FSDs will make it quite a hard ride. The thing I love about the rear ARB is that it just made the car A LOT more stable without losing any comfort, but then I'm sure you know what you're doing ;)

Yeah, which bits in particular... I cba to do it today after fitting the new stereo & rewiring it all... but I'll do it tomorrow instead.

Nice updates.

I understand completely where you are coming from. Believe it or not full ARB kit actually improves the ride especially on standard suspension. Just makes it ride over uneven surfaces and bumps in the road much better. On my friends LCR it took away a little bit of the crashiness (if thats a word lol). I think ARBs will make things more compliant for you and retain the everyday car feeling.

I must say I do agree with that. I fitted a Neuspeed rear ARB on mine when it had std suspension and it really did improve the handling. Front ARB on the LC is quite beefy anyway.
