quite funny reading this thread if you look on the lancer forum there are quite a few posts of evo drivers freely admitting not being able to get away from LCR's.

Most of these comments are from a rolling start though, obviously off the line and round the bends you don't have much of a chance. Think of a EVO with 276bhp vs a chipped LCR with around 270bhp might well be possible that the leon could creep past

I've an Evo VI TME as my daily drive... damn capable car, different league completely.

Straight line stuff (which lets face it isn't what driving a car is all about) a tuned LCR once rolling could (given the right gear etc) keep with a fair few Evo's. However you get nowhere near the pleasure from driving them, and put any Evo on the twisties... (unless someone really can't or isn't willing to drive!)

LCR's a great, quick road car... not the same thing in my opinion though. The Evo's a little more extreme and a little more expensive to run, but it makes me smile so much more than any of the Leons I drive.

Different kind of car if you ask me!

id say that u cant really compare and an evo is a ,much beeter car then any cupra but they are more money an cosy alot more to run id have an evo VI in a second but cant be doin with the frequent servicing and the breakin of the parts (not due to un-realiable) but due to me wantin to modd it toa around the 400bhp mark maybe for my next car ill get one but im still thinkin of my dream car the escort cosworth or a r32 golf

I have just sold my Jap Import Evo 6 for a 2003 LCR there are not many cars that could match the evos blistering acceleration upto 120mph and the fantastic conering ability.

An evo is in a league of its own !!

even after a stage 1 fitted on LCR it is no where near quick as a evo, but i have just halfed my running costs.

In the 12 months of me owing the car some maintenance and serving costs were over £ 1500 alone.

LCR does not stand a chance against an evo.I know as i work for mitsubishi they are great cars but cost alot to run.we get them in everyday from the first gsr up to the new evo 9. The best one we have had in was an evo 8 fq400 that was tuned up to 450bhp  oh yes the fq stands for ****ing quick and god damn its quick 60 in about 3secs just crazy fast and can go round corners like it was stuck to the ground. They need a service every 4500 miles as you need to change the diff oil and engine oil if you are going to ever get one make sure that service book is stamped up as we have had a few in with the owners saying there is a funny noise coming from under the car and its not been serviced well that will be a new diff and sorry not covered under warrenty as you have not been in for a service. Most of them have been smashed up its amazing how many you see that have been on a jig and pulled straight and gaps that just dont sit right. The evo 8 260bhp does not have 260bhp its got 289bhp they just say its got that to compete with the scoobies out there.I nearly bought one from work an fq300 for £17500 one lady owner from new,she changed it for an fq400 :worship: but its a £47000 car so it should be good at that price.

Anyone see the Top Gear test on the Evo FQ400? When they showed the turbo lag by flooring the evo in 5th at low revs against a crappy 1.6 hire car also in 5th at low revs and the hire won over 1.7 miles

Just shows how it could be seen as keeping up with one if the other driver cant drive properly or you catch them out in the wrong gear.

A std evo will beat a standard LCR anyday of the week if driven properly

I would never consider the FQ400. You'd be much better off starting with an MR and sticking 3K into it (although it blows your warranty I suppose).

btw: Mat138L, a lady evo owner? That's unpossible! ;)

FQ400 is an awesome machine provided you have the cash to throw at it maintaining it and that your not planning it on being your daily driver

in what conditions though? Granted there isn't a hope in hell in sprints or on the twisties but normal every day driving I doubt you'll be able to drive an EVO to the best of its ability due to other drivers on the road and changing/unknown conditions etc normally why they get written off

Nothing's invincible, I've cr*pped all over Evo's on the track before in my Ibiza.
My Evo is awesome to drive, it cost's a fortune to run... my last tankfull averaged 13.4mpg which was pretty good. Do I care though? Nope, love the thing. Nothing for the money is near as capable or as much fun!

In 'normal' conditions you shouldn't be driving anything to it's ability anyway...

Unfortunately, this was another example of Jezza not knowing his a**e from his elbow. What he experienced was a high boost threshold.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbo

"Lag is not to be confused with the boost threshold, however many publications still make this basic mistake. The boost threshold of a turbo system describes the minimum turbo rpm at which the turbo is physically able to supply the requested boost level. Newer turbocharger and engine developments have caused boost thresholds to steadily decline to where day-to-day use feels perfectly natural. Putting your foot down at 1200 engine rpm and having no boost until 2000 engine rpm is an example of boost threshold and not lag."

We're not talking 0-60 times there is no point! But from 30 onwards not alot in it! An FQ320 couldn't get past after pulling over for it! At the end of the day they are what you pay for! I would say they're the next step getting closer to a proper performance machine! Don't get me wrong i would like one to p!ss around in!

The Fq400 ain't nothing specially either you may as well save yourself 10k and get the lower model! EVO magazine did an article and found there was nothing in them around a track!

Anyway me mate Dave has a model A Team van and it's "awesome"

Exactly my point, I would of thought most encounters where people are "comparing" their cars are either from a standstill or rolling starts, where although this may not be considered safe or sensible its likely to be less dangerous than pushing the cars handling limits on the streets or country roads
