]just picked this up today my first SEAT and 5th VAG car

mk3 1.6 s 100bhp

to do list

coilovers or stiffer shocks
fix remote locking and pass side window
induction kit
stainless manifold
stainless exhaust with sports cat
cupra bumpers and skirts
gloss black mirrors

sell it and get a mk4 tdi

what yous think

Looks good, the best colour aswell. Is it just me or has it already been lowered a bit looking at the first picture?

yea its been lowered 40mm but with standard shocks i suspect which is causing it to be bouncy.

drove 500 miles to manchester and back in it today and really quite enjoyed it although now my boot wont open

Gutted. I think a few people have had the same problem, if you do a search on here it might bring up something usefull. The skirts that are on look like cupra ones just not colour coded.

Induction kit isn't worth it, you should; de-restrict the airbox, get a panel filter and pull the standard air feed out

my boot wouldnt open also so i took the badge off and sprayed the back with lubricant and it sorted the problem.

Car looks nice and tidy also

yea ive found a few things that you can do but they dont seem to work on mine i'll have to have anther go. yea i believe the skirts are the same just colour coded but mine i have 2 broken jacking point covers so i may as well get some off a bumped red cupra

well aside from the to do list of mods i now have a to do list of fixing problems

fix jammed boot
fix broken shock (will most likely buy coilovers)
turn service light off
fix remote central locking (want a flip key but not sure which one i need anyone know? ive read all the other threads but i'm just more confused )
fix passenger side electric window



and finally where is the clutch pedal supposed to rest in a mk3 mine is around 30mm lower than the brake pedal which i though was a bit odd

i'm just going to get hotuning coilovers (£218) for now instead of buying a new set of shocks

nice looking car dude

the cluth and the barke are close on mine to so i wouldn't worry about that

i hads the boot problem just take off the interior plastic and then you just have to mess with the mechanism

for the passanger window take your switch apart and clean it that might sort it

liking your plans though (Good look with the manifold as they aren't cheap )

think i'm gonna leave the idea of the manifold as i'm putting a 16v in my caddy so dont want to spend stupid amounts on this so a better intake system and a stainless exhaust (mine has a hole in) is about it for performance then just the cupra kit and coilovers for looks, might stick my RM's on for the shows in the summer

Picked up a engine stand from my mate tonight and got him to do a diagnostics while i was there and cme back with 4 faults despite the lad telling me he had one don ebefore i bought it and everything was okay

the 4 things where

-16556 fuel trim : system too rich bank 1 p0172-35-10 intermittant

-16500 - P0116 35-10 intermittant

-17831 - P1423 35-10

-16825 - EVAP emissions control system incorrect flow P044135-10 intermittant

anyone know what these are and yes i will do a search but if anyone knows let me know please

well tonight i flushed the engine put a new filter on and some magnatech, cleaned the throttle body, car seem a bit better to drive and the revs are more stable but i seem to have a lack of power just on par with me mates 1.4 mk3 and mines ment to have like 25 bhp more.

to do list for this week,

put the fuel adative in
fit the new coolant temp sensor i picked up
weld the hole in the exhaust locate the crunching noise
remove the chip box ( i suspect this is causing the over fueling)
and get a new clutch fitted

a quick question, my mate has just crashed his 4 door ibiza and i was woundering are the window mechs the same on 3 and 4 door models also will the exhaust be the same as his is stainless and are the rear bumpers the same?

The 1.6 should be miles faster than the 1.4. The 1.4 is an awful engine!

I think the bumper is the same and exhaust might be, but im not sure about the window mechs. Sometimes on 4 doors the actual front doors are shorter so the mechanism might be. You will be best taking the door card off and having a look, double check the other stuff aswell because I might be compleatly wrong.
