Apr is alot closer tbh 10mins away and if it sorts it via apr then on the 20th il go with apr stg1

im gonna try a revo free trail as that does overwrite if anything is on there then returns the map back to factory..

Is a free option to see if it is the map.

Good idea or not?

I Think that’s an almost genius idea! Will they run diagnostics on it beforehand?

Looking at the errors you've had the ECU's goosed.

EEprom error will mean the device has failled, £1.50 for the part, but needs to be soldered & reflashed.

Revo Trial won't "work" if the ECU's packed up

Re: Checksumm - read it properly.... it's a forum full of 'n00b' tuners, hackers & ebay remappers (and a couple of genuine 'tuners') - take it with a massive pinch of salt.... It's embarrassing for some well known tuners asking how/where to find an ECU..

EEprom is the actual "chip" that holds the map (and usually all the other settings) within the ECU. As Mork says they are cheap to get, but you need someone who is very good at soldering (SMT & hot-air or IR to do this - NOT with a normal iron!!!).

Once the EEprom has been changed it's blank (think of changing a hard drive in a PC - not quite the same, but near enought) so will need flashed/programmed to match you car - doing this is the same for a re-map (with more power) as it is to put to standard with a factory map.

Can i get a ECU from any 20v turbo engine?

Edit:

Also that EEPROM error only sometimes comes back...Everytime we clear it the Charge pressure one comes back but the eeprom doesnt..

Should i still try the free trail to see if it works?Or just forget the whole idea and get a new ecu if i can.!

Another edit:

I have never got this code before 2months of owning it...Someone said the ecu might be damp or wet...ive had a lot of rain over the last 3weeks pissed down ever day...were abouts inside the car is the ecu?
As il check it 2morro to see if it wet or if the seal has been broken,.

I dne a search on this site and many people got this code through a damp ecu?

Not plug in and play exactly, will need to be coded via vag-com. I`ve never done it but it seems easy enough using the sticky in the vag-com section.

If itnturns out that the N75 i sold you has been damaged on the way up making it duff ill give you a refund once you have sent it back and ive tested it.

EDIT:

If Adam feels confident with vag just stick his ECU in and re-code it then re-code it back to his car.

Well ive just Looked at the Ecu and my god what a piss poor design it is...Its swimming in water.
The drainage holes are fine but all around the ecu is wet and the plug that connect to the ecu there is a small plastic cover that covers the wirers well they werent on and they were piss wet throug..

Ive dryed them off and same with the ecu and put the covers back on to the connects to the ecu...

If its that wet theres proberly a good chance its damp inside too.. I`d leave it out over night inside near a rad or airing cupboard.
