Looking good! Got a few pistons at work with holes just like that. Use running in oil and change for more running in oil after 20 miles of fairly hard driving. Then change again from between 250 to 500 miles for decent fully syn stuff. Always drive it fairly hard to get the new rings to bed into the bores nicely.

i thought i had to drive with a bit of care to run it in givin it a blast now and then and varying my speed if i go on a motorway? glad i posted this now just to find out what others are doin so i should change oil after 20miles then say 400miles then just regular service intervals which may be 3000miles or should i do it sooner?

got the new engine in now just needs the driveshafts fitted and the radiator/front pannel fitted and i can then fire it up and start runnin her in, also while i was there i took the air-con compressor off aswel as the pipes and got a new belt from main dealer with new gaskets etc.

also some smelly stupit scum tried stealin my centre caps off my mo's and has scratched all the caps and the inners of my wheel trying to get them off with a screwdriver!!!! proves how dull they were they never got them off and i pulled them all of with my hand with hardly any effort!!

thought i might aswel update this as i havent done so in a while,

so far since i last posted on here ive run the new engine in sorted a water leak that would not stop leakin for ages but all sorted now, still have an oil leak thats coming from crank seal have changed the seal twice now and still leaks not sure if its something causing it to leak but its made a hell of a mess on the underneath the car and rear wheels arent white anymore due to oil splashing down undersise of the car,

also changed the clutch to a spec stage 3+ bit juddery to start with but gettin used to it and feels much smoother and more revvier jus needs to be mapped but cant map it til ive sorted the oil leak out,

also had the rocker cover, sump and inlet manifold powder coated illuminous green for a laugh as i cant be arsed to keep on top of polished bits here's a few pics also painted fuel rail black and goin to change the blue samcos for black soon as they look out of place at the mo

i paid £45 for the sump rocker and inlet manifold but dont think he shot blasted them before he powdercoated them as theres a few rough bits on there but still good job, but at the end of the day its under the bonnet and you dont see under there when i drive past do you lol altho i have drove it without the bonnet once haha,

cupra 20 ive put price in the for sale section m8 and put prov sold so your first inline m8

no still leakin oil done it twice now had 2 wrong seals so now i have the right 1 im going to whip the flange thing off it sits in as i was told you have to take it off to fit it and go from there, also will change the bolt while im there.

engine is all run in now goin to wait til after xmas to get it mapped so its ready for the shows next year also planning a colour change so when the engine stops leakin oil i can crack on with the bodywork not cleaned it in 2 months either lol its stinkin.

hows yours m8 you keeping now or selling up?

I thought the crank seals were part of the flange? You can buy them that way anyway... hope you get that sorted out.

Yeh maybe once its a bit dryer it will be easier to map too, lol yeh I never washed my car in about 2 or 3 months when it was off the road for BT and new rad etc etc.

Aye mine is holding up well, touch wood. Just done new uprated front pads and genuine discs, gearbox oil change, now saving for coilovers. Too addictive to drive now I've done the clutch/flywheel. No way I'm selling unless its last resort, power is mental, can't put it down at all especially the way the weather is.

Maybe get a wee race against you come Inters next year :)

good news i have sorted the oil leak out so theres no stopping me now and im on the lookout for some strut braces as im goin to make the car handle as good as it goes and while im at it im goin to get some anti rollbars front and rear so hopefully it'll stick to the road like its on rails.

also i have discovered that a turbo i bought off my m8 which he thought was a gt28rs and i thought was a gt2871 as it was bigger is infact a gt3071 so well happy and may get the other tubby on for when the weather gets warmer and the shows kick off.

so my plans are for 2010 are:

tidy the engine bay up theres pipes everywhere so could do with a few pipes and wires being tidy'd up aswel as more powdercoating and some black silicone hosing to replace the blue as it looks out of place

get it to handle better as im not to keen on the handling as when i had no seats in the back and when i threw it in2 a corner felt like the back wanted to step out to much aswell as getting some sticky r888's come summer time or some yoko a48's i think theyre called

fit new turbo and get new manifold to house the bigger turbo as i doubt it'll fit where the turbo is now as there aint much room and get it mapped and enjoy it
