Haha thought someone would appreciate that lol, it's cool working on a MK1 & MK2 simultaneously,

Quick questions for you all,

This is a sticker on the side of my engine, I would say that is the date it's made... But my car is a 2010 plate..

Okay finally...

My car is complete on the 034 mount parts! Sorry not many pics had kids running round and a lot going on!

Just a note though... I had the 034 pendulum mount and solid sub frame bush and it vibrated a lot, now I've got the full kit it's a lot better like I mean a lot less vibration! So my advice, change the lot not just the lower parts!

Regarding the date on the engine, could it be a new engine that was fitted at a later stage? Or could your car be on a private '10 plate and actually be a year younger?

Thank you very much!
I've read your build thread so many times & if I'm honest you guys are the reason I started mine! Brilliant build! I know who to pester now!!

I've spoke to autotechnica briefly but I will get into more detail now I have all of the parts, problem is there is a lot of dreamers, people don't always take you seriously so I'm going to get through the main of the project then retreat to hull when they can fit me in! As always I'm following your impressive build!

I'm not 100% on the engine, but I've checked for a plate transfer and found nothing... Strange... As I bought the car from seat with good service history.

034 Motorsport have A LOT to answer for...

To say I'm fuming is a understatement, risking my and other road users safety. Then risking totalling my car!

Hi Josh, bad news mate, can highly recommend the REVO engine mounts if you need an alternative solution.

I was thinking... Why didn't I just get them in the first place! Lol. How much do they vibrate, I would like to fit engine and gearbox, I'm happy with my solid subframe bush & 034 billet pendulum.

Blimey! Not that there is a good time, but I hope it didnt go at a really bad time!

Lucky I know exactly what you mean, I went to pull away quite sharp, playing with a fiesta ST, then herd a noise, got to maybe 8mph and 'crack!', then limped home... Defeated. Lol

Okay... Back to the midweek nights lol,

Tonight I removed the faulty mount,

Really really disappointed with 034, I've been speaking with a manager at awesome, told the basically how I've lost trust, and feel let down by them. I know it's not awesome at fault but I hope you get my drift and think I'm being reasonable too.

Moving onwards and upwards... Well backwards I guess... Standard mount refitted..lol.

After a long list of emails with awesome, I've decided to try another 034 mount... Awesome assured me this is the first one they've ever sold and it's broken. It's such a good product, I cannot recommend it enough & I really want it to work... Have I made a mistake?!

Also whilst out tonight i replaced the R on my friends mk1 LCR

~sorry no photos on the MK1 LCR. But hopefully things will move on both cars!

Think it was just bad luck buddy, hopefully the replacement will be fine. I'm guessing they aren't going to charge you for the new one?

Main thing is though it didn't cause you to have a crash and get hurt in the process.

I'm glad you've said that! No charge for the replacement, i am sending the broken one back so I don't think it'll be the end of the story.

Yeah main thing is we are all safe! (Other road users/ Leo)

I wouldnt personally trust another 034 engine mount myself you was lucky this time but the next time could be serious.
Not only that but its not the first time 034 have produced inferior products take for example there exhaust manifolds they were selling a few years ago for the k03s and k04 they cracked pretty rapidly and created a lot of problems for the company selling them.
I dont want to bad mouth a company as im sure they have made some good products im just making you aware and i hope the new engine mount doesnt fail for you again.

Thanks, appreciate you taking the time to post. I completely take on board what your saying, I'm going to do a few tests prior to installing.. It's going involve a vice and a press, I'll figure out a pulling test too using the Audi A3 we having sitting about ... Then I'll take it easy, build up the confidence, knowing my luck it'll be then it goes.

Aaahhh catch 22.... Or catch 34. The gearbox side is fine.. Maybe when I do this rally I'll bring a spare!! Lol and some tools!

Hmm.. I just don't think my power warrants full on vibrating yet.. Once I've rebuilt the block I will more than likely use Vibratechnics. Proven to myself they work.

Things have been moving very slowly!...

Friday I went down to my local seat dealership in Ashford Kent, booked my car in for a service but requested a special service.. Lol "don't touch my spark plugs! I'm not paying for a air filter! And behave when test driving!" Lol I recently changed my spark plugs for a cooler set from awesome and I have a filter already so it worked out at £120.00 basically for oil filter oil change and cabin filter... Plus I need my headlight tightened. But my local seat know me and know what I'm like. Whilst I was there I was chatting to the manager (as you can tell I have a good relationship with them all) and he came out to look at my Leon, he opened the door and said, we'll give me the keys then... Lol I laughed and handed the keys over... Off he went.. I told him go enjoy yourself! Went back into seat and made a coffee then ordered a few new parts from the parts man, I've order all new bolts for the rear subframe, haldex, drive shafts(front and rear) including retaining plates and new engine mount bolts and prop bushings, also ordered the bracket that holds the prop, it was around £7.00 so hopefully it's the right part! A few little while later the manager came back with a big grin on his face, the first thing he said to me was... 'Wow, that's fast!' Lol. So I told him... Now it's my turn, they had a seat Leon Cupra280 in the car park, it was a black estate version with DSG, so he got the keys, I handed over my license and off I went...

(Same as below but in black)
02cb3b94235b6d0794e3877b4e7590a7.jpg

My first reaction... Wow this is quiet, carm and quite sophisticated... Seems well built and a very nice car to drive. But them, the button was switched to cupra and the foot went down... Handling is impeccable.. Response in steering is improved and it's basically just a better car, but... (I'm sorry) it just felt so slow... Very carm and rather boring, you can hurtle at a rapid rate of knots but feel so carm. I think personally I'd have to go manual, also if have to map it on day 1, and lastly where's the noise and fuss our mk2 even the mk1 LCR makes? Standard my mk2 LCR resembles a fighter jet, good noises.. But this new 280 is just too civilised for me, I understand why anyone above 25 would love it, but I'm still young and antisocial... Lol, my verdict is it is a smashing car, but it's too much better like a golf (rather bland) I could live with it and I think I'd find it a 'meh' car, I don't think it'd be a good week day and weekend warrior... Not to say it's boring or actually slow, as it's not, it's just not quite as raw as the mk2 which is a bonus for some, even the selling point for some, but not for me.

Anyway before I get all the mk3 cupra owners forming a hate squad on me I best move on...

So today in the post arrived...
7b758836a579dd68de7ac0ece8d1a982.jpg

I can refit the 034 engine mount, I'm thinking... If this fails, 1 I will hunt down a certain gent from 034 and 2 I will remove the standard part shown above and try that on the mount.

Also ... Thursday last week I purchased a car....
836397196afe424d1f33de6a6bac125a.jpg

9b75b5f177eb8ece2574da41237d803e.jpg

It was £50.00 from my brother he wanted to scrap it but I thought I'd just buy it to use whilst the cupra is in surgery.. So today I'm fitting new discs and pads all round then 2 new rear tyres, new battery bit of TLC, the tax and mot. Fingers crossed that's all it needs!! Other than a good thrashing, it's a 1.8 kompressor, I do love the sound of a supercharger! Lol

So as you can see... Busy behind the scenes!!
