If you know how turboed cars work, you know the airflow meter (MAF) is measuring the air going into the system. So if the DV boss is open, what's measuring the air being sucked in through that hole?

Sticking an atmospheric DV onto a 1.8 20VT without any research is a bit brainless. Why do you think VW designed the engine to have that hole in the turbo inlet pipe?
