will probably need new tyres , have any of you guys changed tyres recently from o/e tyres to cheaper ones, any comments on performance and noise and obviously cost and location much appreciated

dont know about everyone else as some say proxies some say eagle f1's but i got some vrestien sessantas as my local tyre place is a dealer they say there about the ame as proxies but will last longer and ive had them on a while and they seem **** hot as there designed to work better in the wet starenge pattern on them to cost me £180 for two fitted balanced full monty

got some falken proxes off ebay and they work really well and at 120ish a pair are bloody cheap had yokos on before that and dissapeared in 3000 miles
worth having a shop round and a look on ebay and then what it costs you to have them fitted locally sometimes you can play them off against each other

I think you either mean Falken 452's or Toyo Proxes although I reckon a hybrid 452/Proxes would be an awesome tyre!
I have 452's all round and have no complaints so far, popular choice on here.
Try mytyres.com or camskill.co.uk or even the search function on here, there's a bottomless pit of tyre info.

Are the Pirelli P6000's not a popular choice then? seem ok to me and have had two fully fitted for 125quid.
Personally never got on with them, especially in the wet and you'll not find many who do like them on here but if they do the job for you...as I said earlier there's loads of threads on tyres.

All I will say is..... Used Cheapies and good ones ended up going back to Goodyear Eagles F1's - Found them to be grrrrrreat .... money wise - looked at it that they were what was holding me to the road (apart from gravity!!!) so tough bought what I felt was best for Womble II
the choices as far as im concerned are:
goodyear GSD3s. fantastic tyre. however these are said to being replaced with goodyear assemetrics. still loads about thought and cheaper then ever.
Or falkern 452 are getting good reports, great price, good feedback but lacking in long term feedback as fairly new.
Toyo proxies get good reports, however personally i found them to be poor and didnt last.
Best place for prices is camskill.co.uk although factor inyou need to get them fitted. Cheaper than blackcircles or my tyres though in my experience. As you are a smaller tyres size than the LCRs you may go for a fitted price to avoid the hassle if the difference isnt that much. up to you.

Tried yoko's A539 and AVS Sports, Pirelli Zero's and Michelin's too, the yoko's actually didnt wear that quickly but didn't meet the perormance i expected, the Pirelli's were great on wear, but i found them poor in the wet, the michelins were an all round ok tyre, nothing to shout about.
Eagle F1 GSD3's all the way now, a superb tyre wet or dry conditions. Wear rate is pretty good, grip is fantastic. Just don't expect them to perform in snowy conditions.

i had perrelli p6000 on my lc an they where rated best town tyres for 2006 but it also says on the report not for prefamance cars so if your driving a punto or somit your alright but wouldnt bother on a cupra as youll just spin for the fun of it i did
i even had some plastic tyres on could ironman or somthing that no one has ever heard of they was **** but id rate them over p6000
Does anybody have any experiance of ENDURO tyres? ENDURO 916 - 225/40R18 92W XL Look the same design as the F1's, but only £48...

Learned a sore lesson last week re tyres.
Bought cheap economy ones in a stupid attempt to save a little bit of money. In retrospect, I would have paid the money i'd "saved" twice over if I didn't have to experience that horrible sinking feeling that there is just no way the car will stop sliding in time to miss that car thats just pulled out infront of me......
well i've gone for FEDERAL SS595 SUPER STEEL TYRES, £62 each, people seem to rate them quite high from reading about, so we'll see....
I've just had to replace my fronts this morning, tyre place didn't have any more GSD3's, and didn't have any of the new asymetrics in either
as I needed the tyres today I ended up with some Continental conti-sport 2... they're asymetric tyres like the new Goodyear, and seem pretty good... happy so far anyway!

started with p6000's, replaced those with another set of p6000's
then got Toyo proxes, Wasnt impressed, too slippy.
just changed again, this time got 4 x Pirelli Pzero nero and they are the best out of the lot so far. good all rounders!

i Canna Fault Dunlop SP Sport 9000's 225/45/17
I think these have now been replaced by a Sport MAXX ???
easily do 30k & at around £86 each fitted nearly a yr back. i thought there where a good deal.
Would probs use Michelins on otherwise.
The Standard Bridgestones only lasted 14.5k
These Dunlops have done 15.7k since on the front & are easily 50% tread still left.
Grips the same in WET/DRY but dont use any of these Cars in the Frost/Ice/Snow there lethal.....
