Hello guys and girls. :) Hope your all well.

Anyway I'll get to the point.. I want some shiny metal pressed number plates for my car.. I'm getting them from Dubmiester.com (or whatever it's called).

But can I get away with having the plate banded with a D (as in for germany) or just stick with GB or nothing??

ta

ive got the pressed metal ones, they're reflective which is all i think the police care about, and i've got the 'E' band on them to, no probs so far

i've got:
FE font
'E' Banded
Pressed

just get them and worry about it later :D

As said in another post. I went for 2 years on my polo with pressed metal plates. German font and a D band. Thought fair do's, i'll take it up a notch and bought ones with a hyphen between the letters and stadt stickers above and below, both on white plates.

Went for 6months with those on before being collared. Then, thought I want some metal plates but want to try and stay within permits of the law so bought 2 plates, 1 yellow, 1 white, german font with no banding, no stadt stickers, no hyphens no anything but german fonts.

2 Weeks to the day later and I get shouted at by a traffic cop for having them on!!

Its a gamble. I've been lucky I think, never had any fines but my frined, first time he gets pulled and lands with an mot thing and a £30 fine ;)

i have pressed
UK font though.

never had any problems.
I have a 'SEAT' Berlin plate holder which is in german and never had any troubles

Been thinking about getting some custom plates myself, i like the carbon look i have to say. lol

as above ...its a gamble ...theyll prob let u off coz ur a girl though hehe,

ive got plain pressed plates with fe font from germanplates.com i got holders and screws for £31.

u know the original german plates if you go germany cost like 15euros for both front and back lol.

I've got the pressed metal plate with german fe font and e band. I asked a copper if i would have any trouble with the plate and he said i should be fine. But then again if the copper's bored they will pull you for anything.

Bwahahahahaha. Seriously... are you kidding me? Where abouts does he work? Guess he's a trainee or something!?! I wouldn't listen to anything that he comes out with at all.

Fact of the matter is, there is now only ONE legal font size for cars, it has to be within certain dimensions and sizes (check any private number plate site, they all have the details as I guess they're required to by law). The only banding that you are allowed now as well is GB. All the people with sidestrips having car motif's and badges and stuff are now illegal. Honestly, I've looked into it many a time....

if people want just pressed tin ones. Check ebay. There is a guy on there. Sells them for £19.99 delivered, think he now does it in french and spanish styles too. Says he has all the proper gear to make them. I bought mine from there. Takes about 2days for delivery. Top quality and come with a fitting kit! Can't rate it any higher!!

I didn't say he said they were legal, he just said i shouldn't have a problem with getting pulled over all the time.
