The whole point of the catch tank is to capture the oily vapours, so as long as you fit a good baffled catch tank all that will be going in to the tip are the fumes, the pull from the air flow going through the tip also aids the efficiency of the whole breather set up , which you loose when venting to atmosphere, since fitting my baffled catch tank i have had no oil residue in my pipe work and i vent back to the tip as you can see from my pic.

Sorry my wording was probably a bit off, i understand the idea behind it and i get what your saying with regards to the pull of air aiding the movement of the oil through the system makes perfect sense. It put the frighteners on me when i did my FMIC and removed the pipe between the wing coolers and found a lot of sludge and crap in the pipe work.

Just wondering if the car would benefit more from removal of the fumes all together from the intake? Like i say its probably negligible for the sludge in the pipe work but in theory would the fumes not add to detonation in the engine more so than if it was vented of to an external source?

Cheers for the reply

Gents,

Can someone confirm how many T's and Elbows you need for a 225LCR? and are 19mm I/D fittings good all round? Or are smaller sizes / reducers required? I've just ordered a toyosports catch can but working away from home means I can't do any measuring up :( I've found black hosing (19mm I/D) and black connectors (£10 a pop though, extortionate!) but need to know it's the right stuff first. Catch can is 15mm so I'll need some form of reducer, what have you folks used?

Cheers :)

I only needed 1 t-piece for my set up.
All connections on the car are 19mm, the toyosport can connections are 15mm, but can be sleeved using the supplied hose to 19mm.
