Hi,

For instance according to K&N vendor, panel filter will gain around 1-4 HP on Cupra, while an open intake system gains around 18 HP (http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=69-9503TFK)

Installing an open intake is:

- mess
- loosing engine original cover
- noise
- wash me every n-miles
- $300

All this for ~16HP !!! Does it worth or my calculations are wrong ?

thanx!

I suppose its all down to personal preference. If you are looking for increased power gains and increased airflow then an Induction Kit is the way forward.

Say I have engine remapped, in average REVO takes me up to 300HP, then +(-) 16 HP ... can you translate it into acceleration numbers ?

My tunning workshop says that I can have around 280HP w/o an intake kit ..with the kit 300HP, but he says its not easy to do that.

most stage 1 maps take the cupra to around 300 brake without any other mods. you will find it is around 260 brake standard.
saying it is not easy sounds to me like he's trying to make you pay over the odds.

My concern is the engine cover, dont want to stay with an open belly. So whay do you say : Remap + Forge DV = 280 HP ? (no intake)

I would be surprised if a K&N kit gave 14-18bhp gain over the OEM filter, but I could be wrong :)

There is a lad called Ben who comes on here with an Edition 30 Golf with a Milltek Turbo Back Exhaust, Revo Stage 2 and a panel filter with 332bhp I think.

14-17bhp on to that would give 346-349bhp which is getting on for Revo Stage 2+ figures and to get that you also need an uprated fuel pump, uprated intercooler.

For what its worth, a turbo back exhaust wont even give 14bhp gain over the stock exhaust when running on the standard map :)

also add to your list the fact that the k and n filter wont fit your cupra unless you drill a hole in it and make somewhere for the dump valve pipe

With this in mind - what's the best filter to get? I don't wana be drilling holes in my car!

The is only one open cone filter avaiable for the cupra and thats the forge kit. People either modify an existing 2.0 tfsi cone filter or get an enlosed box filter like the Dbilas Flowmaster Intake System which is pre modified for the k04 turbo

EVOMS kits can be made for the K04 cars from the likes of JKM too. The Dbilas is basically a modified K03s intake modified by Regal.

would be curios to see how they would acheive this.... pics anyone?
