Still no pics, (I know, I'm rubbish) but new Pioneer stereo is installed now, and overall, I'm pleased for the money involved.

A sub £100 headunit, with USB and iPhone compatibility (although turns out it doesn't charge, so may have to get the adapter to make it charge as well) with button backlights to match the red dash, and white LED backlight on screen for easy-to-read text.

Radio reception is PANTS with the stubby aerial though, so reverted to OEM aerial for now - will reuse the stubby aerial for photos/shows etc, but otherwise, it's only for looks anyway.

Had the exhaust manifold->turbo gasket go in the last week, so visited JKM to get them to replace the gasket and bolts - no more embarassment when driving around town at the tank-like-noise it was making!

I'm now also going to be saving for the cambelt change, as well as new map to replace the GIAC map as I'm led to believe this is the cause of the boost problems. Further research will go into this first, but that is what I am now aiming for.

I don't have a sub, and don't want anything that is too big - although I have been considering the small 8" active units you can get to stick under a seat. I had something similar in the boot of my Toyota Supra and it actually worked quite well for what it was. However I have more important things to sort first.

I am still VERY disappointed with radio reception of the new headunit - none of my other Pioneer HU's have had this problem, but even with OEM aerial and booster it is barely useable at times. :( Everything else about the unit is great though!

Boooo, well along comes some nice weather, and I now notice that I have a boost leak. Doesn't really affect normal day-to-day driving, but any heavy acceleration for overtakes on motorway etc I can hear it, esp. with windows down. :(

Starting to dislike forced-induction these days, bloody hoses and boost are always the cause of headaches.

Will need to try and track it down somehow - basic check under bonnet everything looks fine (although it's more likely to be one of the lower hoses) but as it obviously only occurs under load it could prove tricky. Maybe need to find some time and get bumper off.

sorry to hear that mate i know your aggro its happend to me a couple of times.I no its a
P I T A but it might be worth upgrading your hose clamps and just sort them out while your doing it any way.

mines a fr so i dont know if your pipes are diffrent but mine was the pipe that runs from the turbo to under the car,

The bracket had snapped and was catching on the belts and started to grind away the hose causing me to lose the power when i booted it

What belts was it rubbing on? Easy to see under the car?

I've found out how to remove the bumper, doesn't seem as tricky as I first thought, probably a job for next Sunday I think!

Cheers guys - might make myself one of those kits, although it seems tricky getting parts as others are having issues. Some pre-made kits on ebay and t'interweb, but a fair bit more pricey.

Well, I'm semi-smiling again :)

Fixed the boost leak! Found it without the need for my half-built tester in the end, found a large jubilee clip hidden under the heat shield material that had virtually come off! It wasn't holding the hose on, so all I had to do is to re-adjust and tighten! The car has a new lease of life again, but it has highlighted my remap issue once more - I forgot just how annoying it is!

So now all I need to do is to find the surging problem (next step is look at map) and car will be great!

Cheers gents,

Yeah, still got the Regal map on the car. Got a few plans to try and resolve it, but I'm going to need some dosh before I go messing, as it basically could cost me a new remap at circa £500 :(

Still a much happier chappy now tho - the car is at least boosting to a decent level now!

Been playing with my DSLR of late too, hoping to get some funky pics up soon.

 Take it to P-Torque in Wolverhampton..... Will is a great bloke and will sort you out for much less than that!

Glad your boost issue is sorted. :funk:

Thanks Mike!

I will consider P-Torque, but I think the only way to 100% confirm it's the remap is to get the Revo trial stuck on, and see if it goes away. Of course, if it does, then map is at fault, but if it doesn't, then I'd need to speak to GIAC and get the map put back on the car as this would save big dosh.

So might have to get Revo trial first, so long as I've got a stash of money ready for the proper map (whatever I go for) because I wouldn't want to go back to std power! lol

Well not much to update with (at the moment) but I'm now in the short-run up to my car insurance and service time, so it's going to be an expensive run to xmas :(

I plan on getting a major service and cambelt/water-pump done, and depending on finances a few other bits. Car is still running well excluding the boost niggles, but maybe I'll be able to afford to get them fixed soon!

Well, it's only a small mod, but I like it. I think it makes the car look a little more aggressive, and a doddle to fit :)
