Given how much the dealers are after I am going to go the painting route. I've never done anything like this before so any pointers would be greatly received! Having read this thread and this one I'm thinking I will need to sand down the rough patches (or whole handle) before doing any spraying. Does this sound about right?
i did mine last night, sanded the whole handle down (did both front ones) and used halfords bumper paint (black) and this gives a good oem type sating finish.
fitted them this morning and they look fine.

What grain of sandpaper did you use out of interest? All I need to do is decide on the colour now!
thread revival, but can anyone tell me how long the painted door handles are likely to last before they might show signs of wear?
My handles are Di-Noc'd at the moment and after 3months the inner parts where the pull handle goes are coming lose... and i didnt even do them!
Thinking about painting them now... so just wanted to check it worth it!

Did mine last summer and no signs of wear, other than screwdriver gouges in the paint where I had to take doorcards off.
Brilliant.
Will get on mine as soon as i find someone who is willing to break them off their car!
