Had a service yesterday. They flagged that the rocker cover gasket needed replacing, and the front lower arm rear console bushes are beginning to delaminate, so I’m guessing they’d need replacing too. Any idea how much these parts would cost? They also flagged a minor oil leak at the rear of the engine. Any idea how much it would cost to investigate this these days? Thanks.

Did you ask for be given a cost at the time? Surprised the garage weren’t touting for business, these bushes seem prone to failure, had mine done under warranty So no help with cost.

Seat have given me a price now. Seems very steep…
Rocker cover - £963 (inc. labour)
Lower front bushes - £326 (inc. labour)
And a front diff oil change, AC service, break fluid change. Total: £1,463.53. Then more cost on top to investigate a minor oil leak at the rear of the engine… The car would need to be in for 2-3 days they says. Madness. 😔

They’re saying the part is £300 something, but the labour is a lot cuz they need undo stuff and take stuff out in the engine. I don’t know what they’re on 🤨 Getting a trusted independent check it over next week.

That seems very excessive, but of course I can only gauge that on UK labour rages, yours may be far different.

Edit, I thought you were somewhere in Europe by the badge on header, your dealer either doesn’t want the work or are crooks.

Not sure why it says EU. I’m in the UK.

Have a word with forum sponsor Seat Motor Parts; it'll give you a better idea of your parts basket price. I'm not an expert and I could be wrong ( it's happened before :p), but £300 for a rocker cover gasket suggests to me they're either trying it on, or that gasket is made of gold.

Spoke to them just. They’re saying that’s about right… 😳 Fingers crossed the independent garage says these issues that Seat have said don’t exist 🤞🏼

Seat are trying to say it’s not the part that are expensive, it’s the labour that’s expensive 🤨 And they’re trying to tell me the bushes can’t be done separately, they come with the arms. That’s why those are expensive… 🤷🏻‍♂️ Online I’ve seen rocker cover gaskets for £10-30 and bushes for £17-25 each…

Getting a trusted garage to look it over next Wednesday. This is what Seat put on their notes…

The injectors have to come out to do the rocker cover and is a bigish job as all the seals have to come out and the the injectors have to be adapted for smooth running control. So at seat prices this about right. You want cars that run right this is the price if done correctly.

Thanks. And the bushes prices right too? Although, they’re saying they only come with the arms, not the individual bushes themselves.

Not sure mate would have to look into if they could be replaced on there own or separately, what ever wheel alignment and camera adaptation would need to be done.

Presuming it's number 2 which is delaminating?
From your VIN - They are available separately = bush No2 = 5Q0407183E which is around £15 superseded to 5Q0407183L which is around £20.

The whole arm (LH) is 5Q0407151L which was around £110 & (RH) 5Q0407152R is around £135 (don't know why price different the the LH!!!
LH now superseded to 5WA407151 at around £135
RH now superseded to 5WA407152 at around £135

If you just replace the bush - obviously need to factor in more labor to press out the old bush - and press in the new one.
Need to also factor in a full alignment afterwards and ADAS calibration if you have radar cruise?
Are they also including a new ball joint? - as these are about £45, and probably new hardware.

Would you really need to adapt the injectors if you just take them out and put them back in the same place?
EDIT~ you don't need to remove the injectors Number 16 - for a rocker cover leak as they mount much lower on the cylinder head - below the oval air inlet.

If number 26 is leaking looks like there isn't a separate seal - just tube 23 & 22 - and relying on the 'expect' hand of the technician to perfectly clean and apply new sealant! (don't cut corners here unless you want to do it again)
Number 23 = D154103A1 sealant 100g believe it or not is listed at £95!
10 & 13 are around £22 each.

I had the bushes above No2 replaced under warranty so if was cheaper overall to change the arm I'm sure that's the route Seat would have gone down?. Sealant, a rip off which ever manufacturer you are at, prices were similar at Kia, although one tube was enough for several jobs! I'd be looking for a decent indie to carry out this work.
