I know tell me about it!! I don't know the make of the rods there is no makers name on them but they where supplied by Issam, and yes they are riffle drilled, the OE ones are, so it would be wrong to put undrilled back in. Good to see you are planing on doing some work on your LCR this year looking forward to seeing the progress.

My apologies for this. When Tim/ Phil needed rods we had DM Forged rush to get these babies done sans laser etching.

They are a small company but they certainly do take the one on one customer relationship to another level.

Well i have some news at last, i have the bottom end back.
I have fitted the new oil pump and pick up.
One slight problem i have found is that the ARP crank bolts foul on the sump you can see here that the nut sits higher than the edge of the block.
Inside the sump are two "Lugs" which seem to be the point of contact and dont seem to have any purpose so i am going to grind them down and see if this solves the problem, has anyone else using the ARP fixings had this problem? i am thinking it may be down to the sump as its a pattern part.
I have started on the one lug here.
I have also started putting some other bits on.
I should get my head in a couple of weeks so will then be ready for the transplant.

Yeah i would have done it earlier but had to go to Droitwich to collect my new (to me) air con compressor then put up my new tent in the back garden to make sure it was A ok, now back to work on the engine. (When i have finished my beer) Ah sod it i will take it with me. ( Along with a spare in case i spill any)

Yeah it is, Just tried to go to the garage but apparently i cant as i have to clean the kitchen??
Well i have ground the lugs down and the Sump fits now so that's all good, just come to bolt the bracket that holds the alternator and power steering pump on and found i don't have the bolts, although i could have sworn i had them so the order has gone in to Dave at Sere, so will have to wait until next week now.

Well trying to keep the updates coming, so i have been busy putting all the bit and bobs on the block, just got the crank seal to put on the gear box end and then the clutch, which i will do when the heads on as i wont be able to have the engine on the stand then.
I don't know if anyone knows but in the above picture , you can see a bolt in the block, this is where the water feed is to the turbo, but as mine is air cooled i don't need it, is it ok to just block it up, or should i run it to where the outlet from the turbo would go??
I have also been fiddling with the engine bay again, after finding some S3 bits and bobs kicking around, i decided to fit them to see how they looked, although this required me re routing the coolant return hose from the swirl pot, i decided that they looked good so i left them in place and added a bit of braided hose and ally finishers. I have also made the silicon hose from the charge pipe into solid piping.
I also changed the red hoses from the swirl pot to the engine to black.

Well i had a good day today my head and inlet mani are done and i have picked them up, to say i am chuffed is an understatement The head has been ported and polished and 1mm oversized Ferrera exhaust valves fitted, with 3 way valve seats cut, and not sure what this looks like but aparently its the thing to have, and new valve stem seals new cam chain tensioner and chain. The inlet mani has had the flange for the R32 mani welded on and the inlet has been ported to match. I am really happy with it, cant wait to get it on. So i think this weekend will consist of me bolting the head onto the block and then i am ready to put the engine in all i need is for it to stop raining and book some time of work.

When its in i will be bedding the rings in as per Motomans Guide the taking it down to Bills for the map.
