Well guys….its not good news.

Sadly the cold weather really had taken its toll on the thing and its just not going to be cost effective to repair. The engine needs new sills and new rear metal hoses and also there seems to be some other problems. The holes on the underside don’t seem to be as bad as first thought and an estimate of about £200 has been given to fix these but with everything else on top its not going to be worth the repair.

So it looks like this weekend will be an ebay weekend as I am going to be breaking it down for parts. Everything is up for grabs.

does it have to be Vdub? surely most Vento's have had the 'tax' added?
get in on the ground floor, mk1 Toledo? bit squarer shape maybe but similar thing, added bonus if you can get the 2.0 ?

Think his main criteria was the diesel lump.. but seeing him dribbling all over the ones he saw at Inters and up at the Ricoh in Cov its only ever really gonna be a Vento that quells that particular thirst, methinks
;)

Yeah, its going to have to be a vento and a vento only....there is just somethin about them...

Its on ebay as a whole car with 1 day to go and 2 watchers...but have a long list of people ready to come and take parts off it so either way i should get my money back...

And then its on with the search again....

shame mate...but as you said, take the lesson from this and go on with your search for a better one ;)

good luck and keep us posted

Cheers Craig,

Well it didnt sell on ebay so it now looks like I have the joy of breaking it.....

which in a weird way i am kind of looking forward to.

Gutted dude, just found the thread and read what you had told me on the phone in more detail.
Like you say, all being well you'll make your cash money back to start another project.

To help I will take the Bonnet, Lights and maybe one or other of your grills ;)

Ollie

I think i should scrape my money back...

got a lad off e.38 who wants the exhaust

bonnet, lights, doors, numer plate surround have all protentially gone.

Boot its spotless so that sould go easily !

Well the braking isnt go to bad at all.

had a few questions on the engine and the bonnet and lights along with the stereo have already generated £100.

1 door should be going this weekend and i am just waiting for a guy off an emerican forum to pay up for the number plate tub.......

Ive started the search already for the new one....and brought a car cover to protect the old one while its being torn apart...

Dan, If you've got the steelies on it, get y'self on to somewhere like banded rims or retro rides and (try to) sell them on there as doners for bandeds ;)

Well sunday looked like a Vento bomb had gone off on my drive with bits of car and tools everywhere !...just what a drive should look like on a sunday.

Making good progress actually and so glad i decided to brake it as i am learning loads about the car.

As mentioned before the head lights and bonnet have gone

boot gones

rear lights gone

rear door handles gone

heather vents gone

passenger side rear door gone

BBS ra's GONE !!!!! :-o:-o:-o

all this so far has returned £360

so nearly ready to go shopping again !

** i had Bryce round my house on sunday in THAT white vento, helped him fit the door **

mate so gutted about this vento, like you said, learning curve, and as you are breaking it, you are learing how to fix it in the process :D

can't wait to see when you get another one, as i know you will love it the way i will love my mk1 golf gti when i get it :)

its been such great fun breaking it !

Helping Bryce from E38 at the weekend do this door took 3 hours and we had to change some central locking bits over..it was all good fun.

only got £40 to go till i have my cash back but i bit gutted i had to let the rims go.......but i got a good price on em !!!!!!! better than i paid !

that's good to hear, how much is left to shift, do you think you'll make a profit?

you got ya eye on another vento?
