I believe the FR suspension is slightly more forgiving. That came from someone who has done the same and the difference makes the Cupra bearable. FR owners don't seem to complain as much, from what I've noticed. Anyway, I'll be able to give my own opinion soon.
Regarding sound deadening, yeah, something I've been considering doing for a while now.

was thinking about sound deadening but wouldnt know where to start or what is best to use,what have you done so far and where did you get the material from?
I bought some from eBay. Basically just the cheapest bitumen type I could find (not interested in audio etc, just want the car quieter)
I've done the full floor from front to back plus the tailgate and rear quarter panels. It's a massive difference.

I originally thought the same, but apparently it's slightly softer suspension, either way, it's brand new, and after 65k there'll be sufficient wear to reduce efficiency. I'll post up my results and let you all know.
Sorry to burst your bubble Bondiblu, but the FR suspension is still horrific! I've have my car since 24k and it's always been horrid. I was looking in getting KW V1 coilovers because these don't have helper springs...

It was coming off anyway, both top mounts need replacing, + I'm replacing every nut, bolt, etc basically complete brand new struts. If anything it'll just tighten up the suspension, don't expect much, but was told by another Cupra owner that It made a noticeable difference over the Cupra suspension. We'll see I guess ....
Look, I know this is against the flow of the thread but I like my FR's standard suspension. That's based on my driving a whole lot of other cars. How my FR drives/sounds is one of the reasons why I got it in the first place. My colleague's Mk4 TDI 130 Golf feels 'old man'ish' to me with its 195/50 tyres and taller gear ratios. I also drove a new Exeo 2.0 TDi for about a week recently and it totally bored the pants off me...still each to their own. Good luck with all your suspension mods/tyre ratio changing etc everyone.

I simply have to do something about it or else the car will have to go.
I can't actually believe how bad the standard suspension is, surely SEAT realised when they built the thing?
So the general opinion is dampers, I am prepared to try that, any recommedations other than the Koni?
Also, what is the view on the springs, change them while at it or leave alone?
In the meantime, I will continue to borrow the missus CMAX given the choice of the two motors !!

Forgive me but if you hate it that much why did you buy the car in the first place? Trade it in is my advice and test drive your next car.
It's a small, cheap, golf-alternative, hatchback. They had to cut the curbs somewhere.
By the way, most people drive the car they're going to buy, before they pay for it.

Yeah i know what you guys are saying on the test drive thing. I test drove mine and it's a novelty at first (as already said by the OP) having a firmly sprung sport car. After a few months you are wondering what the hell you bought it for lol.
@ the OP - the suspension is under damped, this means that buying dampers that are more suited to the springs will dramatically change the characteristics of the suspension. As standard, the springs are doing more work that they need to as the dampers are not matching the rate of the spring compressing and rebounding.

Have to say in fairness to mine that after my complaining earlier in the thread I took mine out today for the first time in months for a run out round some winding coastal roads and over a mountain.
Admittedly some of the roads looked to have been recently surfaced but I thoroughly enjoyed it and the ride quality barely entered my head the whole time I was out, I had forgotten how much fun the car is when you're actually doing a bit of spirited driving rather than just trailing up and down a motorway all the time in traffic.
Still think its too harsh over bumps in day to day driving, but it made me appreciate the firm suspension again for a couple of hours at least and put a smile back on my face.

That's the whole problem. The people harping on about test driving the car are fairly new to it. When I bought mine, I liked the firm suspension. But then again I was younger and dafter, and I was doing an 8 mile commute over a recently resurfaced b road. It was brilliant.
Then I got older, and the roads have got far worse, and I've seen me doing 100 mile commutes. It gets tiring real quick.

The standard suspension isn't too bad when you push it. Tiny bit of roll but afterwards its generally not too bad - lots of grip. Love the steering on the ibiza, weights up very nicely - not drove any other small cars with as good as steering tbh. But yes, the suspension is still too harsh for everyday use.Similar threads
