really stupid question about bleeding brakes

Have used the Gunsons bleeder on my previous cars no problem but with the LCR up in the air I couldn't get any fluid out of the rear calipers???

I had 12psi on the bleeder.

Question is.

Do you need the ignition on or engine running to do the rears?

I did a small pedal press to check fluid would come out and it did.

I'm sure i'm being really thick so am prepared for the stick

Does the LCR not have a pressure compinsation valve so if the raer axle is dropped with being jacked up it closes down pressure to the rear brakes as it thinks it has gone light at the back to save it locking up?

Have you got VAG-COM? If so, use the bleed routine in there.

Mk60 abs so the brake compensating is done electronically. could be a switch though, i'll give it a go with wheels on ramps.

as far as I remember the vagcom bleed is only the abs bleed which is only the fronts anyway. basic settings.

I'm know loads of people have done this but the searches bring up lots on air in the system posts but not this.
