Probably going to get slated for this but is it the people who complain about tires in the wet are the people driving to fast for the conditions?

I have Yoko Prada Spec 2's on all corners which you all know are summer tires, but I have never had a problem with losing control or grip in the wet.

Well i think you will agree that if my car is losing control at 20mph round a roundabout then i am not driving too fast

no big roundabout, going about 3/4 the way round. I have now changed them for Uniroyal Rainsport 2s and they are a massive improvement, completely different league! However, i got a flat tyre and drove 20 miles on one all the way down the m-way and now it fu**ed and i am getting a new one tomorrow :(

Marangoni zeta linea xl. Have just replaced these for the same, as they have been the best iv found. Much improvement on toyo proxies 4, t1s and t1r. Amazing dry grip and also good in the wet, also they give totally even wear on the inner tyre on the front - a problem with all ibiza's. Paid 100 pound more for them this time as they are becoming more and more popular.

I was runnin on the Zeta's but I found them feelin a bit unsure on the corners in the wet but my mate had them on his Golf vr6 and he didn't drive slow which is why I got them in the first place. He's runnin on the uniroyal rainsports on his corrado now though and reckons they're good. Round a bouts are crap for bein greasy from all the rubber fragments from tyres. I think the marangoni's are a bit dearer now cause they're imported and everythin thats imported has gone a bit tits cause of the credit crunch and the pound bein worth less.

Vredesteins in the winter, 888s in the summer for me.

The Vredesteins are spot on, not cheap but easily as good as the gsd3

i'm in a similar situation as the original post, my fronts have never gripped in the wet since i got them and now i crawl to work when its been spitting!

they're Barum Bravuris r15s on a 1.2 and they're also close to the stops after less than 10k...!
on the back i've firestone fh700fs (standard with the car) when i had them on from they were ok (wet or dry) they've done 44k and still ok.

i'm looking at Vred Sportrac 3 but people here seem to rave about the Uniroyal Rainsport 2

looking for a good wet performance tyre thats not crap in the dry. any advice?

It might not be the tires that are the problem, could be the tarmac! If you are doing 20mph and skidding, something is not right.

When driving round roundabouts in France my tires screech and that's doing 20-30mph round the large roundabouts.

My current tyres lost grip when going 30mph up a hill then turning very gently and slowly to follow the course of the road, car skated into the kerb and I buckled an alloy, they also tend to cause me to spin out in a dramtic 360 when going round islands that are "mildy damp" at 20mph :( Selling the car for an Ibiza next month though so not worth changing them.

Dont forget the shocks though. I think you'll probably find there's loads of tyres that are really good but a waste of time if your shockers aren't. I came haring up the road tonight on wet roads, fallen leaves and muddy tractor trails without any problem on my maxxis but I've just recently fitted a new set of gas shocks all round.

Whats the general opinion of falken fk452s as they are dirt cheap an so far ive not heard many bad things about them

I had Faulken zeus on an Mk1 MR2 and the only thing I ever heard was they can lose grip a bit sudden but a good tyre all the same. Didn't have bother on my old car though.

do people find that road noise despite the tyre choise is pretty bad on the sport pd130?

ive just replaced the budget fronts with avons and while its better its still loud on the motorway..

All ibizas are noisy no matter what tyres you have on, unfortunately its just something you have to put up with :(

Boo! :(

Was going to order some Hankook K110s today but it looks like there is no stock of 205/45R16 in the country!

know how you feel, about a month back i had a nail through my tyre and i drove on it for 20 miles without noticing  Trying to get a replacement tyre was a nightmare, ending up taking 3 weeks until a decent tyre was in stock!
